He then competed in the NORBA National Cross Country and Observed Trials events at Big Bear and helped establish a downhill race team that produced two professional riders. After college and graduate school, he road raced for a few seasons, but soon returned to cyclocross and mountain bike racing. Anthony lives in San Francisco, where he works in the geospatial industry and spends his free time riding, camping, and fishing with his wife and son. Hot or cold: Definitely cold. Cold showers, cold rivers and lakes and cold cyclocross conditions.]( [What's your pre-race routine: Wake up. Steel cut oatmeal with honey and a small cup of coffee with half and half. Drive to race with chill people. Pick up my registration. Pre-ride the course if it's an option. Ride the rollers for 30-40 minutes with music or spin around the local neighborhood. Alone time 20 minutes before the race or roll with good people who have a positive vibe. Sprint or steady: Steady. Tempo steady. What do you want to be when you grow up: Happy and healthy. Vocations on my dream list include: astronaut, U-2 pilot, designer of practical items inspired by nature.]( [What's your soundtrack: Daft Punk in the morning, AC/DC in the afternoon and Motown or R&B in the evening. What makes you feel young: Playing with my 5 year old and forgetting about my age and doing what I've always been doing. What makes you feel old: Crashing hard and the comeback from injury. Tell me more about your training routine: Training is challenging with a full time job and kid, so I try to be easy on myself and adapt to changes in schedule. I try to ride with fast people or fast groups (the Bay Area has no shortage of these) and mix it up on the trails and road. A bulk of my strength work happens in the gym. Over the years my rides have become shorter and more intense, but this works with my life style. Ideally, I try to get some long road rides in with my brother and friends that end with some cold beers.]( [If your bag could talk, it would say: Oh damn!
