Don’t ask me why; I’m just having a premonition. Last night, I asked a friend if he ever does yoga and he looked me in the eyes and said “Yes, of course. I love yoga.” Then, when I followed up and asked how often he does it, he again looked me in the eyes and said, “I mean, every once in a while. Not really.” Apart from this being a complete betrayal of my trust for which I will need a lengthy written apology, it got me thinking, do all the people in my life who tell me they “do yoga” just do it every once in a while? By my estimation, almost everyone I know says they “do yoga.” It seems clear to me now that what they’re actually saying is that they “have done yoga before.” Yes, of course, there are those of us who love to do yoga, but I would venture that the vast majority of my acquaintances are lying, not only to me, but to themselves, about how often they do yoga. My point is, we have to be really careful about what we say, because I will remember. What do Winnipeg, pozole rojo, the Cook Islands, charming ski town Airbnbs, and rising prices on glasses of wine have in common? Not much, but I’m sure we could find a thread. Oh, wait, I know! They’re all the subjects of different stories in the Thrillist newsletter today. Well, I’ll be darned. That’s enough for me. I’m going to go do three minutes of a 10-minute yoga video, one and a half minutes of which is just the instructor imploring me to buy a special kind of sponsored vitamin that costs $400. Have a fantastic weekend and don’t forget to… I forget. Just have fun! [-Ned Riseley, Senior Copywriter]( [ [( travel [] [Everyone Wins in Winnipeg]( I don’t know if that’s exactly true, but if you follow the advice of this article about putting on some snow boots, getting some Zorba’s chicken, ice-cycling along a river, and taking advantage of everything Winnipeg has to offer, you’re in for a great time. It’s really important that we fight the lazy urge to think of winter as only dreary, endless, and something to be endured. Don’t give in to this ethic; embrace it and tighten your scarf. Take some cues from the Winnipeggers and feel the magic of the season. [] [Check it out]( [( [( Food & drink [] [Pozole Rojo Is a Warming, Wonderful Winter Treat]( We had the pleasure of talking to Chef Otoniel Michel, the founder of the Chicago restaurant Estrella Negra, about his favorite cure-all super-soup, pozole rojo. This soup is all kinds of spices, garlic, complex flavors, and Michel alleges it’s the ultimate healer. Read up on the powers of this soup and try the recipe yourself. [] [In the soup]( [( *Sponsored Ads List [( travel [] [A New Route to the Cook Islands via Hawaiian Air]( I know I just made a huge deal about embracing the cold of winter and not being a deserter, but you have to realize that everything contains its opposite, and I also heartily endorse the practice of going to warmer climes when needed. Thankfully, Hawaiian Air has just announced its new route to the Cook Islands, for the first time since 1993. You’re telling me the last time Hawaiian Air flew to the Cook Islands, Beanie Babies were just launching and Harry Styles wasn’t even born yet? Well, it’s coming back with flair, and I can’t wait to head to any one of the 15 islands in the South Pacific. Here are some of the best Airbnbs conveniently situated right near the slopes. Some are architectural gems, some have indoor pools, some have spectacular views, and one even has a private chairlift. Don’t mind if I do.
