[] Youâd think this was my first time experiencing Daylight Saving Time, the way Iâm complaining about it. But truly, I think I have a point. Why do we do this ourselves? Is it so I can feel more inclined to curl up on the couch like a sleepy badger wearing an acorn hat from The Wind in the Willows and have deeper, more unusual dreams to talk about with friends at dinners and parties? Not that Iâm very much fun at dinners and parties right now, because by the time I arrive at the dinner or party, itâs been dark for at least four hours and I am struggling to keep my eyes open while an acquaintance tells me about their experiences with primal scream therapy or their misgivings about sending an email. It feels like I spend half of my day sleepwalking, like Iâm one of those people who takes a sleep aid and wakes up two hours later in Aisle 4 at an unfamiliar supermarket holding Cheez Whiz, Ritz Crackers, and a copy of a tabloid magazine with a story about Camilla Parker Bowlesâ most shocking secret. Is that how youâre experiencing Daylight Saving? Is this ringing a bell? Today weâre helping you acclimate to the seasonal shift with: a story about all the wolves to be spotted at Yellowstone, a recipe for mochiko chicken, a Virginian tribute to the iconic Black chef Edna Lewis, a chance to spend the night in the Dunder Mifflin for less than $25, and last but not least, the seasonâs most wondrous wonder, a bunch of gift guides! If youâll excuse me, I have to go to the IKEA in Red Hook and lie down on one of the beds in one of the preassembled rooms pretending that itâs mine. âTis the season.
