It’s a perfect day to pour yourself a big cup of coffee, get that agenda in order, send a few emails you’ve been putting off, and climb back into bed to stare at the ceiling wondering, “What kind of utopia would we live in if email didn’t exist?” It’s chilly at night and sunny during the day, events are back with a vengeance, and pop culture news is all about Olivia Wilde’s salad dressing recipe and the fact that James Corden was banned—then unbanned—from Soho French restaurant Balthazar. We are living in wild and unusual times. Now more than ever, I recommend a quick perusal of the latest clickbait and then a wholesome meal of actual activities and experiences that exist beyond the screen. No one wants you to seize the day and experience something new more than Thrillist, which is why we have stories about everything from all the haunted hotels in the country (one for every state), a new cookbook inspired by Stephen King (oh no…), how to prepare for the fact that Netflix is introducing ads (say it ain’t so), a day off with musician Jessie Reyez, and finally, suitcase organizers to simplify your life. You have a lot of fun in store. I’ll leave you to it! [-Ned Riseley, Senior Copywriter]( [ [( Travel [] [There Is a Haunted Hotel in Every State]( Just as every state has a bird, a motto, a vibe, every state in the United States of America also has a haunted hotel. Ghosts know how to spread out, they each have their own regional touches, and of course they love hotels. You could visit a hotel in the Ozarks that was once a hospital with a fraudulent doctor at its helm, a hotel in Minnesota that used to double as a brothel and is haunted by one of its sex workers, Lucy, or a Victorian manse in Oregon where otherworldly figments are still celebrating the Gold Rush, among others. [] [Ghost someone]( [( [( FOOD & DRINK [] [Creepy but Delicious: The Stephen King Cookbook]( These are not recipes created by Stephen King (I wonder what he cooks…), but recipes that are inspired by the scary fictional universes he creates. Castle Rock Kitchen: Wicked Good Recipes from the World of Stephen King was created by Theresa Carle-Sanders and actually features a lot of really cozy, comforting recipes. Taking inspiration from his books, this cookbook features a lot of ‘70s era comfort foods, with everything from spiced seekh kebab inspired by a moment in The Body when a child eats raw hamburger (yikes) to French Toast Casserole inspired by Cujo, which we have a recipe for at the end of this article. [] [Scary delicious]( [( *Sponsored Ads List [( entertainment [] [Anything but That: Netflix Is Introducing Ads]( There’s no pleasant way to put this. Netflix is introducing ads. Yes, the idyllic platform that never made you sit through three minute commercials for almond milk (I don’t actually know what kind of ads they will be). I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I guess it’s good to know in advance and plan accordingly. We got to spend her day off following her around to all her favorite haunts in New York and New Jersey, from reading in Central Park and soaking in the nature to joyful partying at La Chiflada in Paterson, New Jersey. She knows lots of great spots to chill, eat well, and celebrate the present moment. [] [Check it out]( [( [( shopping [] [Make Traveling Easier with Suitcase Organizers]( As someone who just throws all my belongings into a bag and hopes for the best and then winds up forgetting socks or some other crucial item, I could use the help of the suitcase organizer. These little packing cubes, pouches, portable hanging shelves, and more make life on the go so much easier. Seriously, how on top of it would you feel if you had hanging shelves in your travels?
