There are little gel sticker signs that say “Creepy in a Cute Way,” and “What a Beautiful Nightmare,” and I traipse past large paper cut-outs of ghouls and vampires every time I enter or exit the building. I would say I’m unfazed by it, but it’s admittedly a little fun to cohabitate with some decorations, even if a closer look sends a shiver down my spine. Sometimes, shivers can be just as good for spine health as stretching and kundalini yoga. Is there a wellness trend that has to do with fear? Please advise. Now onto more important things, like the most miserable winters in the country, incredible vegan Filipino pastries, the fact that NASA recently MOVED A GIANT ASTEROID (congratulations are in order), an opportunity to stay in the firehouse from Ghostbusters, and finally, a new sauce line that works in collaboration with Top Chef alums. I don’t say this lightly: Yay! I think one of the Halloween decorations from downstairs has come to life and is knocking on my apartment door, so I should go. See you tomorrow, [-Ned Riseley, Senior Copywriter]( [ [( travel [] [Every State, Ranked by How Miserable Its Winters Are]( Here are all the most miserable winters in the country, from White Lotus to Fargo. Winter haters, unite, and gloat about your charmed life under the sun. Meanwhile, we Olive Kitteridges will put a little Kahlua in our hot chocolate and bravely suffer through the sleet and snow, gloating about how we have a more complex and profound relation to seasonal change. As a New Yorker, I am already feeling self righteous about my attachment to my own suffering. Read this entertaining breakdown of all the coldest states in the country, and find out how your own state fared. And remember: misery can always be rebranded as “cozy delight,” so fear not! [] [Misery loves company]( [( [( food & drink [] [You Haven’t Lived Till You’ve Tried One of Kym Estrada’s Vegan Filipino Desserts]( Kym Estrada is the pastry chef extraordinaire behind San & Wolves, a company that puts a plant-based spin on classic Filipino desserts in Long Beach, California. These desserts are feasts for the eyes as much as the palate, and you’ll love learning more about Estrada’s origin story, her approach to taking up more space as a non-white vegan chef, and her Cheezy Ensaymada Recipe. Can you guys whip me up some and send, ASAP?! It hurts to look at how delicious they look. [] [Yum]( [( *Sponsored Ads List [( news [] [To Be Completely Honest: NASA Moved an Asteroid]( Trumping all the other news, at least in terms of sheer impressiveness, here’s a story about the fact that NASA smashed a giant asteroid about the size of a stadium. So basically, if an asteroid was hurtling towards the Earth and going to obliterate us, NASA feels confident that it could avert that. I wasn’t really that worried about that before, so this is kind of a double-edged sword; I’m happy that we can prevent it, but I wasn’t even thinking about it. Ignorance is bliss, I suppose! Can you believe they can affect the course of an asteroid? I can barely move the pile of clothes that has amassed next to my dresser from one side of my room to the other. Just kidding, yes I can! This storied abode, located in Portland, Oregon, is filled with both ghostly presences and Hollywood lore. The space has two bedrooms, and even comes with Ghostbuster uniforms, Ectoplasm, an Aura Video-Analyzer, so now’s your chance to live the fantasy and commune with the otherworldly. I can’t promise that you won’t become possessed like Sigourney Weaver and start calling yourself “Zuul” during your stay.
