With the remains of a hurricane hanging over New York, I am tempted to buy an entirely fleece-lined outfit, start smoking a pipe, and invite people to come visit me at my bedside and read to me from The Wind in the Willows, a book I could never, admittedly, get through as a kid, but am ready to have read to me now by close friends, acquaintances, and even frenemies, if I have any. I am finally ready to emotionally identify with an anthropomorphized British water vole. There’s just something about this time of year. And how are you? Are you ready to read some stories? Cuddle up in your full-body velvet opera coat, sip some warm milk, and enjoy our stories about the biggest, baddest corn mazes in the country, our favorite buzzy breweries, the new travel features that Google is introducing, an opportunity to live out of a van (for money) in New Zealand and Australia, and last but not least, glorious Airbnbs in the mountains. If you’ll excuse me, I have to stare into my tea looking for answers and saying cryptic things about the past to people younger than me (though, rest assured, I am myself quite young). [-Ned Riseley, Senior Copywriter]( [ [( Travel [] [‘Tis the Season for Losing Yourself in a Corn Maze]( There’s nothing that says “fall” like getting a little tipsy on pumpkin nog with your closest friends and wandering through a labyrinth made of cornstalks. While I cannot promise that David Bowie in a ruffled collar and elf tights will make an appearance as he does in the seminal film, Labyrinth, these corn mazes around the country are sure to be a lot more fun. From a maze in Ohio that has wine and cider tastings at every checkpoint (a surefire motivation) to a maze that celebrates nature in Wisconsin, these circuitous and mind-boggling adult playgrounds will get you in the full spooky spirit, and challenge you in the best possible way. [] [Get lost]( [( [( FOOD & DRINK [] [Something’s Brewing in Breweries All Over America]( And that something is—you guessed it—beer. And outrageously good times! These breweries offer some of our favorite hoppy, hazy, juicy, and herbaceous brews, and the atmosphere is immaculate. Read our definitive list of all the breweries that make us excited to be cheersing and beersing this fall. Whether you’re a straightforward lager fan or looking to sample a champagne beer at a brewery that prides itself in its support of the local Latinx community, we have all kinds of breweries for all kinds of beer lovers. [] [Cheers to beers]( [( *Sponsored Ads List [( travel [] [Google Can Now Help You Make Your Travels More Sustainable and Specifically Curated]( Confirming my suspicion that we are already living in a virtual reality and someone forgot to tell me, Google has some new, hyper-specific tools that can help you navigate the unknown, from immersive viewing of landmarks around the world to a feature that allows you to upload a picture of the dish you want to eat and then finding the places nearby that offer that dish. You’ll also be able to get a sense of different neighborhood favorites based on AI-gathered reviews from Google users. You guys keep me young. There is a new opportunity from the company Deel that will pay you to live in what is called the “Deel Mobeel,” a furnished sleeper van, and post about your experience on social media. If you have lots of social media experience and strong writing skills, this could be the pivot that helps launch your next career as the rebooted Crocodile Dundee… or should I say “Dundeel.” Okay, I have to go. [] [Do you have what it takes?]( [( [( travel [] [Climb Every Mountain, Stay in Every Airbnb]( There’s nothing quite like climbing a mountain, whether on foot, on donkey, or fully asleep inside a self-driving luxury vehicle. To feel like a billy goat, in this day and age, when the world is transpiring to turn us into clout-addicted couch potatoes (I said as I typed this from my beloved laptop with 73 tabs open in my urban apartment), is a true blessing, and we have some incredible Airbnbs to show you what the good life could actually look like. To think that I am missing out on having my own private hot spring in Idaho, and three stories of wraparound porch in Georgia, and lakefront happy hour at a beautiful cabin in Montana, is enough to get me to book one of these myself. Who’s coming with me?! [] [It’s all downhill from here]( [( *Footer 728x90 Thrillist Editorial - Favorable reviews cannot be bought.
