If you’re venturing out, triple-check the opening status, entry requirements, and safety protocols for both your destination and home city upon your return. Be safe out there. [] Welcome back! We’ve found ourselves at a momentous weekend… the weekend before Turkey Day. My building super has adorned the walls of the lobby with decorations for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Turkeys and elves live in harmony on our walls. Are the turkeys supposed to be under the tree? Are the pilgrims carolers or are they still just religious settlers from England? It’s this big mess of holiday intention that doesn’t make any sense, but that I’ve chosen to interpret as refreshing and heartwarming. I have no choice; it seems like they’ll be up through December. The headlines today will definitely get you into an appropriately festive mood. We have a case for “mini desserts” at Thanksgiving, a list of reasons to travel north to Alaska, the best early Black Friday deals (don’t go to Black Friday in person, please!), a new beer from the Empire State Building, and a chance to explore your family history with Expedia! I have to go and make sure I wasn’t just hallucinating those decorations. Have a great weekend, [-Ned Riseley, S](enior Copywriter [ [( food & drink [] [Have You Considered Making Your Thanksgiving Dessert Mini?!]( Here’s an article making the case for thinking small with your desserts this year at the Thanksgiving table. They’re bite-sized, they’re adorable, and you can eat as much dessert as you want without keeping track! If a rude cousin calls out, “Hey, you ate all of the pumpkin pie bites!” you can counter them with a simple statement of fact: “No, I didn’t. They were miniature!” Voila, all is healed! [] [Go mini!]( [( [( travel [] [Why You Should Visit Alaska ASAP]( It sounds a little silly. I’m sure you already know that Alaska is big, beautiful, and an awe-inspiring place to visit. But have you read Thrillist’s thoughts on the matter? As always, we have an exciting take on why Alaska should definitely be on your must-visit list, especially with international travel so up-in-the-air right now. We’re talking national parks, the northern lights, rich history, and last but not least: FJORDS. Just saying the word “fjord” puts me in a good mood. You have to go! [] [See for yourself!]( [( *Sponsored Ads List [( shopping [] [The Best Early Black Friday Deals to Shop Right Now]( Black Friday. It sends a shiver down my spine. And that was before social distancing was a thing. But why not stay safe and take advantage of some of the best Black Friday deals from the safety of your home (i.e. under the covers, wrapped in luxury)? Here’s a helpful list of all the deals to be had well ahead of Black Friday. You could save 50% on a Le Creuset, or go absolutely BEYOND at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, all without leaving your house. It’s a no-brainer! [] [Shop till you drop]( [( [( food & drink [] [New York’s Hottest New Brewery Is… the Empire State Building?]( The Empire State Building is a New York icon, and now it’s hosting a Craft + Carry pop-up brewery on its 86th floor. There will be a limited edition Empire State Building-inspired IPA that some are calling a “tropical traffic jam of flavor.” You’ll have to go to the 86th floor of the Empire State Building to figure out what that means. It’ll be like the end of Sleepless in Seattle! Only you probably won’t meet Meg Ryan or Tom Hanks there (never say never, though) and you’ll be drinking a hazy IPA. [] [Empire strikes back]( [( *720x300 Ad Banner [( travel [] [Expedia Wants to Help You Piece Together Your Family Tree]( If you send MyHeritage some of your DNA, Expedia will plan a “heritage trip” based on its findings. That’s right, Expedia teamed up with MyHeritage to create a Heritage Travel Hub for some lucky ancestral researchers, and will be sending some participants to any number of countries to explore their roots more fully (i.e. eat and drink and have a blast). Here’s hoping your ancestors are from fun places to visit! [] [Explore more!]( [( *Footer 728x90 Thrillist Editorial - Favorable reviews cannot be bought.
