If you’re venturing out, triple-check the opening status, entry requirements, and safety protocols for both your destination and home city upon your return. Be safe out there. [] Ummm, good morning! I hope you’re having an absolutely gorgeous hump day, filled with hygge and hilarity. I’ve been thinking a lot about bears and hibernation, and the fact that there are currently researchers at NASA trying to figure out how to get humans to hibernate, so they can do some more long-distance space travel. Spoiler alert: It seems like humans could probably hibernate if they want to. I’m not going to space any time soon (I’m claustrophobic and unhelpful in a crisis), but the idea of hibernation certainly appeals. I’m gonna look into it for the rest of the winter. Speaking of space travel, I have a story about the lunar eclipse and all the other exciting things happening in the night sky this month. I also have a new interactive Thrillist holiday dinner MOODBOARD called The Global Table. Next up we have some whiskey collaborations. Then, the restaurants that are going viral on TikTok. And finally, another gift guide, this time for the people in your life who like traveling alone… I’m gonna go see if I can induce hibernation by breathing really slowly and watching old episodes of Dharma and Greg. If I’m not awake for the newsletter tomorrow, you’ll know where I am. Bye! [-Ned Riseley, Newsletter Contributor]( [ [( backyard observatory [] [Don’t Miss November’s Spectacular Stargazing Moments]( I really don’t think I’m the right person for the job of telling you about astronomical events. Nevertheless, I am here to tell you that today and tomorrow, the moon is having a little rendezvous with Jupiter and Saturn. Then, on the 18th and the 19th, we have THE BEAVER MOON and the longest partial lunar eclipse of the century. Listen, I’m not good at explaining this stuff. There’s so much happening in the night sky in November. You’d better read the article for yourself. [] [Space jam]( [( [( food & drink [] [The Global Table Has Some Inspiration for Your Holiday Potluck]( Even if you’re not jetsetting right now, you can travel around the world all while staying put in your kitchen. The Global Table is going to get you in the mood to explore new recipes, learn more about other food cultures from around the world, and make your holiday dinner party one to remember. We have food stories from amazing world-famous chefs, tips from hosts in the know, and recipes for everything from fresh seafood ceviche to tamales with homemade masa to a perfect dirty martini. We’re here to remind you that these colder months aren’t just about increased melatonin production, they’re about trying new foods and diversifying that recipe collection. [] [Fork yeah!]( [( *Sponsored Ads List [( food & drink [] [The Whiskey Collab You Didn’t Know You Needed]( When two distilleries love each other very much, sometimes they want to show that love by making an extra-special whiskey collab baby. And that’s exactly what Cascade Hollow Distillery and Leopold Bros. Distillery in Denver have done to create their 100-proof “homage to the antique style of rye whiskey that was dominant in the traditional hotspots of Pennsylvania and Maryland more than a century ago.” Okay, history-lover win! This collaboration blend is going to make you wanna put on a smoking jacket, sit your butt down on a velvet ottoman next to a crackling fire, and live large. Plus, we have an extra recipe for a cocktail known as the Prairie Trail! [] [Say hi to rye]( [( [( food & drink [] [TikTok Has the Scoop on the Best Restaurants in LA]( TikTok is a great place to watch a veterinarian do a choreographed dance to a Black Eyed Peas song to highlight important information about canine ringworm. It’s ALSO the perfect place to learn about the buzziet new restaurants. While using TikTok can make me feel like I’ve touched down on a planet whose language I don’t understand, reading this article about all the amazing LA restaurants that are getting highlighted by TikTok influencers makes me think it’s time to get back on the horse.
