There’s a cold going around, giving everyone a nice dose of reality after a year of staying inside. I’ve become a complete baby about the slightest illness, taking to my bed like an aristocratic Victorian child and praying to God to cure my post nasal drip. Please, release me from the tyranny of this stuffy nose! Well, have no fear, I bought an overpriced and disgusting juice that was filled with cayenne pepper and then sat in the sun for an hour, so that should bake the illness right out of me. I heard that zinc is good for your immune system, so I guess I’m getting oysters and dark chocolate delivered later. But enough of that! I’ll bet you wanna hear what’s hot off the presses. Well, let me tell you: today it’s all about cancelled flights, beer, Sabel Scities, Amtrak, an idyllic town in Oregon, and the best inflatable pools and hot tubs around. It’s eclectic, it’s electric, it’s the Thrillist newsletter. Time for me to go turn the shower on really hot and ingest the steam until I pass out. Wish me luck! -[Ned Riseley, Newsletter Contributor]( [ [( news [] [Airlines Are Canceling Hundreds of Flights This Summer & You Can Blame the Travel Demand]( That’s right, too many people are trying to fly right now and it’s led to a slew of flight cancellations. Like many businesses, airlines are understaffed and ill-prepared for the sudden rise in demand. Learn more about what’s going on with summer travel, so that you don’t get stuck at the gate wondering, “Will I ever get out of LaGuardia?” Unfortunately, the answer may be no. Time to hit up the Brookstone store and buy a weighted, heated blanket to relieve your stress. Okay, I went too far into that airport fantasy. Bye! [] [Trapped on the runway]( [( [( food & drink [] [10 Beers You Need To Be Drinking in Summer 2021]( These are the special beers you’ve gotta try this summer. Don’t be a Mare of Easttown and spend every night drinking Rolling Rock. Rolling Rock’s great, but you deserve to mix it up and try some other flavors. How about a Berry Cherry Gose? Or a Rothaus Zipfeltännle Pilsner? Or a Zwickel from Framingham, Massachusetts… The sky is the limit with these righteous brews. [] [Brewski time]( [( [( tip these queens [] [How Sabel Scities Embraces Island Life]( John deBary sits down with drag queen Sabel Scities to talk about how she got where she is: bartending all over the place from Fire Island to Hawaii. Learn how Sabel got her start in the Portland scene, her favorite drinks, plus a Sailor Girl Mai Tai recipe that will have you singing sea shanties in no time. [] [Where’s my Mai Tai?]( [( *Sponsored Ads List [( news [] [Amtrak Is Selling Tickets for as Little as $23 Right Now]( While the airlines might be a little overwhelmed, the trains are chug-chug-chugging, and for cheap. I just booked two different Amtrak trips and they were so affordable, I threw up my arms and thanked the Amtrak gods for their trainly goodliness. Seriously, there are really good prices right now, and who doesn’t love curling up with a book on a train, looking out the window, and waiting for the ride to turn into an Agatha Christie murder mystery? [] [Choo-choo]( [( *720x300 Ad Banner [( shopping [] [Inflatable Pools and Hot Tubs That Will Change Your Life]( Pools and hot tubs are wonderful, but who wants to deal with the maintenance? Well, now you don’t have to… if you get sick of it, you can just puncture your pool with a steak knife and let the trashmen do the rest. Oh wait. I’m getting word that that’s not how inflatable pools work. Okay, forget I said that. Better read the article about all the best inflatable pool and hot tub options on the market right now.
