Hope you’re washing your sheets and having good boundaries with the reopening of the world. I did entirely too much this weekend. I don’t regret it, but I do think I’m going to take a little break and hide under my bed for the remainder of the week. I went to a performance, I went to an outdoor party, I went to the beach, I saw a movie in a theater, I made conversation with someone I didn’t know that well, I ate a donut and drank a tequila soda while a song I didn’t know played. I think that filled my stimulation quota for at least a month. I’m going into hibernation until July. Everyone’s talking about the reemergence of FOMO now that things are getting back to normal, but I’m thinking about FONMO, “Fear of Not Missing Out,” in which I find myself out at a party and start wondering if my toaster misses me. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t. Today’s Thrillist is sure to help you get in touch with your priorities. There’s a guide to modern foraging, there’s an assemblage of stunning treehouse hotels, there’s a list of the BIPOC-owned brands that’ll help you stock up on summer essentials, there’s a great deal from Southwest, and finally, there’s a list of essential beach reads. Maybe after a long New York winter of eating meals outside under heat lamps with hand warmers in the toes of our boots, it’s time for an indoor New York summer in which we huddle under the air conditioner applying SPF 70 and shucking oysters. Tell your friends! Oh no, am I becoming an agoraphobe?
