How’s everyone doing? I love how often I ask that, as though we’re doing this live and someone’s going to pipe in with an answer. That’s how starved I am for a public life, for the dream of community. On another level, I’m thrilled you can’t heckle me and I can just write into the abyss to my heart’s delight. It’s about us, it’s about trust, babe! Speaking of which, where is Fat Joe? I have not been keeping up nearly enough with Fat Joe and his whereabouts, let alone Ashanti. I hope they are happy and hanging out by a pool somewhere singing “What’s Luv?” Okay, on further inspection, Ashanti is indeed in Cancun right now, hanging out beside a pool. Fat Joe is not with her, and 12 hours ago he posted a picture of himself on a private plane. I can only infer that he is on his way to Cancun to hang with Ashanti. Also, he seems to be Keto or something, because he’s lost some of his eponymous “fat” and is looking good. Enough about Fat Joe! Here’s today’s top stories! Did you know that you can get 2-for-1 Amtrak tickets rn? Did you know you can get a badge to protect your vaccine card? Did you know Airbnb has a bunch of beautiful barns just waiting for you? And did you know that national parks are now selling some beautiful retro t-shirts? It’s time for me to book my flight to Cancun and begin shooting my documentary, Where Are You, Ashanti? After I’ve put my vaccination card in its special badge, I am going to be unstoppable. Please have a safe, healthy, saucy little weekend, wherever you may be. See you next week, -[Ned Riseley, Newsletter Contributor]( [ [( news [] [Amtrak Is Offering Buy-One-Get-One-Free Tickets for Summer Travel]( Starting now, you and your frenemy, your ward, or your mysterious lover can travel for the price of one. Rather than going through the song and dance of purchasing two tickets, your solo ticket is good for two travelers! I don’t need to explain this to you. You know what a two-for-one deal is. Also, the prices are beautiful right now because of that Pandemic-That-Must-Not-Be-Named. Calling all you freaky train people (I’m including myself in that category). Put on your top hats, throw that traveler’s bag over your shoulder, and bring along a Shirley to complement your Laverne. [] [Chugga chugga]( [( [( drinks [] [You’ve Gotta Know: Black Women in the Spirits Industry]( Look, we’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: There are some incredible Black women in the spirit industry that you have to know about. Vanessa Braxton and Chanel Turner are bringing you vodka. Shay Wood’s bringing you rum! Fawn Weaver’s whiskey! Nayana Ferguson and Tiffany Capri Hainesworth want you to throw back some tequila! Pam Davis and Myriam Jean-Baptiste are beckoning you to a candlelit corner to try some liqueur. And finally Chrishon Lampley and Marvina Robinson want to help you stock your wine cellar. [] [Read more!]( [( [( shopping [] [Pocket Protectors for Your Vaccine Card, Ya Nerd!]( Just kidding, these are honestly very cool, because they are all centered around protecting your health and the health of those you love. Now that many of us are getting vaccinated, we’re going to have to keep track of our vaccine cards in order to travel, or get into shows, or whatever other public, germ-filled things we’re gonna want to do in the near future. Thrillist has drummed up a list of the best vaccine card-protectors on the market, right now. [] [Use protection]( [( *Sponsored Ads List [( travel [] [Airbnb Just Revealed Its Most Wish-Listed Barns]( Well, you could! Here’s a list of all the most wish-listed converted barns on Airbnb, and most of them are nicer than my house. Nary a piece of hay out of place or a donkey in sight. These barns are friggin' classy. Some of these barns are so dang classy, they look like they’re inhabited by Dutch candelabra designers who exclusively listen to ambient chamber music and feed their children goat’s milk yogurt for every meal. Okay, I’m fixating on one barn, but there are also some more rustic barns thrown in there for good measure. Take a look for yourself! [] [Barn time!]( [( [( shopping [] [These Dad-Approved Retro Tees Rep Your Favorite National Parks, and They’re on Sale]( Who doesn’t love MERCH, and I love it even more when it’s coming from the Parks Project, which is an organization that is committed to protecting and preserving the country’s national parks. The merch is beautiful, and a lot of it is tie-dyed, and I think you’re gonna love it. If you wanna protect our parks and do it while wearing a beautiful tie-dyed sweatsuit, you’ve come to the right place!
