I saw several overeager people in shorts (you know the types) and it felt like any moment, people on the street would break out into a flash mob choral rendition of “[Put Your Records On](” punctuated by all of the fire hydrants exploding with giant streams of sweet New York City water. Thank God it’s chilly again and we’re all back inside. I wasn’t ready. I’m very excited, don’t get me wrong, but it felt like too much too fast. I think we need to wind up to the warmth. I’m all about the delayed gratification. But you can rest assured that as soon as it’s appropriate to be outside, I will be doing cartwheels (I can’t do a cartwheel) on top of an MTA bus while everyone around me sings Sean Paul and people cheer as restaurateurs throw all of the heat lamps into the Gowanus Canal. It is the dawning of the Age of… Something… ! I can’t wait for you to read some of these articles! There’s one about a Midwest town that is positively gaga for hockey… one about khitchidi, an Ayurvedic “comfort dish”... one about moving to Italy for a dollar (okay, I’m listening… )... one about indoor dining capacity in NYC increasing on March 19… and finally… adaptogen-packed snacks (you lost me!). What a spring bouquet of Thrillist delights! I have to go do some stretching to prepare my body for my reentry into warm outdoor society. As soon as I have the vaccine I’m going to Peter Luger alone and ordering the most expensive steak they have, eating most of it, then packing my bags to move to Italy for a dollar! Ciao, [-Ned Riseley, Newsletter Contributor]( [ [( travel [] [Who Is the Hockey Tami Taylor of Eveleth, Minnesota?]( Tami Taylor is Connie Britton’s character on Friday Night Lights, but that has nothing to do with this article, which is about Eveleth, Minnesota—the hockey capital of the Midwest. You can learn all about it when you read this article about the town, which is home to the US Hockey Hall of Fame Museum. It’s no coincidence that Eveleth is located in the “land of 10,000 lakes,” where people are absolutely nuts about hockey. This town goes so hard for hockey, they’re even giving Canada a run for its money. [] [What the puck?!]( [( *Sponsored Ads List [( food [] [How to Make Khitchidi, the Ayurvedic Comfort Dish That’s Good for Any Meal]( Khitchidi is an Indian dish made with rice, yellow moong dal, turmeric, peppercorn, and other ingredients. It’s delicious and good for you, in all kinds of ways. Read this article by Nandita Godbole to learn more about her own personal journey with the dish and check out a recipe to help you balance your pitta and your kapha and your… what’s the third one? Oh right, your vata! [] [Yummm]( [( [( news [] [Move to Italy for a Buck]( You’ve maybe heard of this before, but if you buy a house in certain towns in Italy and agree to spruce it up in a timely manner, you can pay just a DOLLAR upfront. Most recently, Laurenzana is the town that’s trying to incentivize renovations and newcomers. Might I suggest checking this out if you yourself are in need of a change and you have some extra cash and time on your hands to make a house a home. You could pretend that you’re a protagonist in a romantic drama, striking out on your own, jumping and seeing if the net will appear. Then once the renovations start, I imagine it will cycle through comedy and then tragedy and then back to tragedy… but doesn’t that sound like an adventure? [] [Learn more]( [( *720x300 Ad Banner [( travel [] [Just in Time for Warm Weather: Indoor Dining]( I am not personally going to be partaking in this for quite awhile, but New York restaurants are upping their capacity to 50% on March 19, and who can blame them? This has been a helluva year for restaurants and they deserve to make a profit. I will be staying out of doors for as long as possible, but for those brave souls who want to see someone else’s ceiling for the first time in months, go for it, have fun, and tip your servers well. We’re stronger together! [] [Stay safe]( [( [( shopping [] [Eat Your Adaptogens!]( Adaptogens are basically herbs, roots, and fungi that up our immunity and make us feel good, so it’s no wonder that Manhattan-based nutritionist Dawn Lerman thinks they are one of the most important things a person can eat. This article includes a short interview with Lerman, as well as a list of all the snacks that are JAM-PACKED with adaptogens Unfortunately, Chips Ahoy! did not make the list, but there is some gelato, popsicles, and chocolates that did, along with some other delicious treats. More adaptogens, please! [] [Keep it healthy]( [( *Footer 728x90 Thrillist Editorial - Favorable reviews cannot be bought.
