I have just invented a new medical condition known as “It is impossible to be productive during a particularly hot July in the middle of a pandemic.” I have no medical training, but a lot of practical experience with this condition. Every time I go to do anything on the computer, my browser somehow leads me to [a video of an everyday object that is actually a cake](, or an obscure article about methane levels in the atmosphere, or a personality test that tells me that I am “an emotional leader.” My hands hover over the keyboard like a Ouija board, leading me astray whenever possible. I try not to be too hard on myself about my work ethic. I’m not a Puritan after all, and there are plenty of good ways to distract myself, especially on Thrillist. Today’s Thrillist is filled with some beautiful tips and tantalizing curiosities to amp up your at-home procrastinations. There’s an article about biking in the Southwest, one about a live cam that captures beluga whales in their natural habitats, a ranking of all the Talenti Gelatos, and ice cream brands that deliver. Finally, there’s an article about Chick-fil-A postponing Cow Appreciation Day. I did not know that there was a Cow Appreciation Day to postpone, but now that I do, I’m heartbroken that it’s been delayed and am going to set an iCal alert. -Ned Riseley, Newsletter Contributor [ [( travel [] [Biking Towards a Desert Mirage]( Bikes are big right now. With time slowed down and public transportation feeling sketchy, the simplicity of biking towards the horizon line is freeing to say the least. This list of all the best spots to go biking in the Southwest makes me...incredibly sad that I don’t live in the Southwest. I don’t even really bike very much, but I think biking in sand might be a good way to let off steam and simulate the sense of desolation I am feeling right now. Just kidding, I’m fine! [] [Check it out]( [( [( food and drink [] [The Gelato Wars]( I love gelato because it’s like ice cream’s thin cousin. When I eat a gelato, I feel like I’m in a commercial for an antidepressant that worked. This article ranks all of the best of the Talenti gelatos (and sorbettos!) “Old World Eggnog” placed at 37, which came as a genuine shock! [] [Check it out]( [( *Sponsored Ads List [( news [] [Cam Girls of the Sea]( These saucy little beluga whales just went live! Polar Bears International and [Explore.org]( have teamed up to launch a live cam of the beluga whales that migrate every year from the Arctic to Manitoba. The cam’s on until the beginning of September! I will definitely be watching, as soon as I finish Normal People, a show about normal people. [] [Check it out]( [( [( shopping [] [Ice Cream Straight to Your Door]( Oh no, more ice cream. It never ends. This is a very enticing article about how you can get very special ice cream delivered to your home...IN BULK! I bravely decided to ignore the article, lest I buy 15 boxes of artisanal ice cream sandwiches, but I think you’ll love it! [] [Buy here]( [( [( news [] [Looks Like Cow Appreciation Day is Going to Have to Be an At-Home Thing for Now]( Thrillist is always reminding me that there is literally a holiday everyday, which I have to say is not going to help my dwindling summer work ethic. My latest excuse for slacking is Cow Appreciation Day, a Chick-fil-A affair, which this article tells me has been postponed! Chick-fil-A is doing its best to “keep the spirit of Cow Appreciation Day alive this summer.” Let’s all hold each other accountable to keep the spirit of Cow Appreciation Day alive. Amen.
