[Jeffrey Tucker]Dear Daily Prophecy Reader, Where are we in the trajectory of destruction? We find ourselves in the midst of a dangerous combination of trends that could become gravely existential. Consider the trends. One, inflation is roaring and affecting absolutely everything, a mere six months after all elites assured us that this would never happen. Consumers have woken up to the reality, started bargain hunting and changed their spending habits, while wage earners have come to realize that their raises are being eaten away by the rising costs of everything. Inflation is a huge factor driving the second trend. Two, the Biden administration is deeply unpopular. Some polls show that approval has slipped to one third. This is not some short term trend and it is probably not fixable through any of the usual methods. These numbers represent deep loathing and an entrenched loss of trust, not only in the ruling party but the entire machinery of government, and not only at the federal level but in states too. Three, the biggest government gamble in many lifetimes undertaken to defeat a virus itself has been defeated. Anthony Fauci said as much during his Sunday TV pontifications. He said that Omicron cases are very high, but it doesn’t really matter that much since cases alone do not “disrupt society,” so pretty much everyone should move on and forget that the last two years ever happened. If you talk about this, you are by definition “fringe.” Four, financial markets are seriously under pressure in ways that not many mainstream forecasters would have predicted. The softening is happening sooner and it could start to look really scary in ways that no one welcomes. The Fed is threatening a bigger and faster move on interest rates that had been previously expected, and this alone has spooked the markets. Five, Americans are experiencing goods shortages with their own eyes every time they go to the grocery store. Empty shelves. We keep being told that this is nothing to worry about, but actually the shipping clogs and supply-chain breakages have gotten worse rather than better. They were supposed to be fixed by now. Does this tiny battery company have the key to Tesla’s Million Mile Battery? Chief Technology Officer of St. Paul Research, Ray Blanco, says [a tiny company founded by a former senior Tesla battery engineer]( is a crucial part of the story… A technology that’s already protected by patent application No. 3069168. And according to Ray, a partnership with Tesla could be imminent. If that happens, he predicts the tiny stock could skyrocket 100% in a matter of minutes. [That’s why he just went live in an urgent briefing to give you the breakdown of the situation he sees unfolding.]( This is by far the most urgent stock research we’ve ever issued. Just as all five of these factors have come together in potentially combustible wars, we are suddenly bombarded by the prospect that the US is preparing for war with Russia, ostensibly to stop an alleged aggression against Ukraine. The US is already performing military exercises and the Biden administration is supposedly set to deliberate this week whether and how to escalate. Can reality be made to look even more like a Hollywood movie? If you have seen “Wag the Dog,” you know the scenario. A president is in big trouble politically and turns to some Hollywood specialists for some way to distract the American people from his growing personal troubles, which were bound up with some sexual scandal (yes, echoes of Bill Clinton here). They film a fake war and distribute the footage to all major media sources. Implausibly, the whole plot works and the presidency is rescued from disgrace. Is a scenario like this even remotely possible? Not precisely. The war would be a real war in a real place, but whether and to what extent we can get the truth on what’s actually going on is another matter. Does any seriously intelligent person actually trust the New York Times to report accurately on Russia’s intentions and the actual nature of the political conflict in Ukraine? We saw the clearest example in decades that the NYT is willing to turn over its pages to serve ruling-class interests, as they did with Covid lockdowns and vaccine mandates. That the NYT will play this role again in a war with Russia seems almost inevitable. Sure enough, this morning as I write, the paper headlines a major story about the coming war, with alarming opening paragraphs: President Biden is considering deploying several thousand U.S. troops, as well as warships and aircraft, to NATO allies in the Baltics and Eastern Europe, an expansion of American military involvement amid mounting fears of a Russian incursion into Ukraine, according to administration officials. The move would signal a major pivot for the Biden administration, which up until recently was taking a restrained stance on Ukraine, out of fear of provoking Russia into invading. But as President Vladimir V. Putin has ramped up his threatening actions toward Ukraine, and talks between American and Russian officials have failed to discourage him, the administration is now moving away from its do-not-provoke strategy. Can life imitate art in a more precise way? How utterly stupid do they think we are? The Next Ten Months I can just imagine what it must be like for Biden right now. He hates his job, hates the briefings, relies entirely on his handlers, and dreads decision making. Most people around him doubt his mental competence and he knows that. He doubts it himself. He also knows that he is on the verge of an epic presidential failure, one that could lead his whole political party into electoral disaster later this year. Whipping up a war frenzy in a major and potentially calamitous European war is a desperate move, but the question is: what does he have to lose? The bottom line is that if his advisors and pollsters decide that he needs a war to regain his footing, war there shall be. With the US embroiled in conflict in Europe, suffering at home from inflation and depression plus good shortages, what will China do? It could do what it has wanted to do for a long time, intensify its political and military control over Taiwan. What would the US do about that? Open another front? Last November I wrote to you that the coming 12 months were going to be massively fraught with peril, due to the one-party state in Washington, D.C., that is facing disgrace and discrediting but also looking at a coming electoral rout. Desperate times, desperate measures. We have 10 of those months remaining. Think of the cornered rat. Even in my worst-case scenarios, I had not actually considered that the Biden administration would drag the US into a European war. Even now, the very prospect puts a pit in my stomach. How much more of this disaster can people bear? How many more blows to liberty, prosperity, and rights can Americans really suffer and not fall utterly into cultural and political despair? Tomorrow I will find some silver linings in this parade of horrors. I do believe there are countervailing trends that will save us and create a brighter future. More on that later.
