We find ourselves swimming in a sea of lies. [But Larry Kudlow explores a solution that could offer "financial independence for life."]( Are Reporters Fools, Robots, or Partisan Hacks? [Jeffrey Tucker]Dear Daily Prophecy Reader, If there’s anything you’ve missed as part of your membership to George Gilder’s Daily Prophecy, make sure you check out our website where you can find archives, updates, and everything else that's included in your subscription. You can access it by [clicking here now](. We used to believe that there was this thing called “news.” It was supposed to be an ongoing narrative about the state of the world. The news was divided into sections: national, local, sports, business, weather, and so on. We believed there was always a story to tell and that the job of the news was to tell it. Maybe it was never true. Maybe it was always an illusion. Life is perhaps too multifarious, diverse, and complex to be summarized in short sentences with such a predictable and canned model. Maybe what we call the “news” was really just an invention to sell us, a business model that masked entertainment as information. In fact, I vaguely discerned that this was true some ten or more years ago. And like you, I could never shake the habit. I would wake in the morning and be as hungry for the news as I was for a cup of java. As much as I’ve tried to shake off that habit in the age of Covid — when most of the news has fully collapsed into state propaganda — i still yield to temptation. Sometimes I even slog through the thoroughly discredited New York Times. Dim Bulbs Just when I think I cannot be shocked by the sheer obtuseness and canned nonsense, something appears that adds another layer of alarm. This time, for me, it is a NYT article on the problem of Broadway. Ticket prices are falling dramatically. Shows are closing. Not even half the theaters are open. Shows are only two thirds to half full. It’s a gigantic mess going on there. As the official ruling-class newspaper, the Times covers all the grim details. They do this for the same reason that Pravda had to report actual information. It’s because the ruling class needs information, lots of it accurate, in order to maintain their status and rule. They cannot fully languish in complete ignorance lest they look like idiots. The Times lays out all the details. “Audiences are vanishing,” observes the paper. Box-office grosses are falling off a cliff. The all-important Christmas and New Year’s weeks, which producers count on each year to fatten their coffers in anticipation of the lean weeks that follow, generated just $40 million this season, down from $99 million before the pandemic. Requests for ticket refunds are now so high that on some days some shows have negative wraps, meaning they are giving back more money than they are taking in…. More and more theaters are now dark. By next Sunday, there will be only 19 shows running in the 41 Broadway theaters. Cast and crew members from shuttered productions are trying to figure out whether they even worked enough weeks to qualify for unemployment; those who do will get less assistance than they did earlier in the pandemic, because the maximum weekly benefit in New York is now $504, down from $1,104 when the federal government was offering a supplement. It does not take an economic genius to figure out why this is happening. Just think about this for a few seconds. The city has a vaccine mandate. You have to flash the pass everywhere you go. Broadway is especially strict about this. It pertains to everyone 12 years and older. They are rooting out fakes too, unlike the local bars. In addition, you have to wear the mask outside and inside. The entire time. The theaters have hired staff to enforce this very strictly. “Keep that mask over your nose,” they bark at you. In addition, intermissions have been abolished to keep people from mingling. There are no refreshments. No food. No drink. No fun. Is it any wonder that audiences are not showing up? No! It’s incredibly obvious why audiences are not showing up. But here’s what is remarkable about all of this. The story on the topic from the Times doesn’t mention one word of this. In fact, it speculates that the opposite is probably true, namely that all these precautions are attracting people back to the theater. It’s absolutely nuts. My question: are the reporters who write this gibberish fools, robots, or partisan hacks? I would suggest some combination of all these. But by far, the most important factor is partisanship. Essentially most of the corporate media has signed up on the grand task of covering up for all the destruction and evil caused by the ruling class. They are trying to keep a lid on it! URGENT: Battery Patent No. 3069168 One of Tesla’s senior battery engineers QUIT Tesla and submitted a patent application for a revolutionary new tech process… But he didn’t just quit…he’s brought the chief of Tesla’s entire battery division with him. The man who helped create the original lithium ion battery. And today, you can take advantage of their TINY startup. [This stock]( could skyrocket as much as 100% in a matter of minutes. [Click here for the urgent details.]( The Sadistic State It’s deeply disturbing to see an entire city, especially one with the glorious history and culture of New York City, utterly destroy itself. There was hope when the new mayor came along that he would change things. He shattered that quickly over the weekend when he texted that he would keep all mandates in place because he wants the city to “lead” in public health. In many ways, the city does lead. The mandates are bleeding out to other blue cities like Boston and Washington, D.C. This is happening despite the dearth of evidence that the vaccines don’t do anything to stop infection and spread. Everyone will likely get some version of Covid, and likely get it again in their lifetimes. It’s a hard truth, but one that many people knew already two years ago. Despite the vaccine optimism, it’s not clear that they have contributed anything to public health. And yet the mandates keep spreading. It’s an astonishing thing to watch. The news media might have done something to stop this simply by reporting the truth. Why the reluctance? The reporters want to keep their jobs. They report to editors who want to keep theirs. They report to managers who in turn report to their corporate overlords. They in turn know better than to upset the powers that be, and we know who they are: government, big pharma, and big tech. As a result, you have this strange situation in which everyone pretends not to know what we absolutely do know and have known for a very long time. Herculean efforts are being deployed to keep the truth from the public. When some venue comes along like the Joe Rogan podcast to interview an actual expert, the ceiling falls in on him and every effort is made to cancel his show. Even when it doesn’t work, the attacks serve a purpose. They send up a warning to other dissidents not to speak. Stay quiet. Stay silent. Comply with the line. Then you will be fine. Most people go along. It’s Just as Bad on Economics People tell me that they don’t care anymore about Broadway. I do, but ok. It’s a huge part of American art, and it breaks my heart to see it all destroyed — deliberately destroyed for reasons that are not entirely clear. Regardless, my point is to focus on the coverage here. We are not being told the truth by the paper of record. What pertains here pertains to basically everything. They won’t tell the truth about inflation either. About small businesses. About the health of children. About the anger of the American public. We find ourselves living in a sea of lies. We need to know that. What they tell you is the news is not the news. It is nothing but a litany of prescribed beliefs as scripted by very powerful people who are right now more interested in covering up than revealing. If you understand that, you are way ahead of the game.
