Those who obtain their information from the most popular technologies of five years ago are walking in darkness. [Gilder's Daily Prophecy] September 17, 2021 [UNSUBSCRIBE]( | [ARCHIVES]( Man who Predicted 2008 Collapse Makes SHOCKING new Prediction [Jim Rickards]( helped save America from a $1.3 trillion banking crisis… He predicted the Great Recession of 2008… He predicted Trump’s 2016 election… But now he’s issuing his most urgent warning yet. If he’s right again, God bless America… [Click here to see all the details of his analysis and decide for yourself if you should protect your family and your wealth.]( How Facebook Became a Department of Government [Jeffrey Tucker]Dear Daily Prophecy Reader, There are two major reasons why old companies, no matter how gigantic and powerful, get displaced by new ones over time. First, they get bureaucratic, lazy, bogged down, complacent, and unable to adapt to new technologies and market conditions. Second, they get captured by government and become part of the machinery of social and economic control. Both conditions make such companies vulnerable to displacement. Facebook has tried very hard to avoid the first fate. And they’ve done a good job of it. They have gobbled up new companies that are doing things that Facebook would like to do. When that doesn’t work, they reinvent the technology and strategy for themselves. This is what they did with messaging, facetime, stories, advertising, live videos, streaming, and they even attempted to do this with payment systems and cryptocurrency (that was stopped quickly by regulators). They worked constantly to improve their users' experiences as a way of keeping people on the platform more. One obvious change was to discourage people from leaving. Now if a user posts a link from some outside source, Facebook forces a second click, warning against leaving, as if Facebook is really the only completely safe place on the web, apart from those companies who are advertising on it. Some of these changes were intended to increase personal engagement and make the platform more friendly and happy. This has not worked out very well. A deep investigation by the Wall Street Journal chronicles an absolute crisis that hit the company in 2018. They tried to game the algorithms to increase “Meaningful Social Interactions” which came to be known internally as MSI. They pushed more content by friends on other friend’s profiles, even if it involved links to outside sources. We know what happened. Due to the toxic political times, everything immediately blew up. Facebook became consumed almost entirely by division, hatred, argument, denunciation, doxing, smears, and generalized social and cultural poison. This only took about 6 months. This dramatically changed the kinds of stories that the media would run. Facebook Poisons Everything As I’ve written before, I’ve been on the inside, experiencing the awesome power of this platform. Put yourself in the shoes of an editor of an online publication like Buzzfeed. You run a piece that is about history or education or something calm and uplifting. It gets a few thousand views and everyone forgets about it. But then you run a piece about some contentious topic like race or transgender or sexism or abortion. That article, in contrast, gets millions of views. Why should this matter? A publication like Buzzfeed is entirely funded by advertising which pays the company based on its reach. If one zippy article generates 10 million impressions, and another 100 articles that you publish all together obtain only 1/100th of that combined, you are getting a signal. You are a business. You specialize in following signals. Facebook’s attempt to increase MSI actually ended up having a dramatic effect on the kinds of content that many online journals would run, simply because Facebook became so important to everyone’s business models. When Facebook switched to pushing out topics that fire people up, incentivize people to argue with each other, many journalists shifted to only writing about topics that would make people hot under the collar and engage in brutal denunciation. This helps explain why everything in the world of journalism seemed to go so insanely nutty from 2018 onward. Also, this was a period in which Facebook was rather neutral on publications they would push out to readers. As a result, many entrepreneurs started really quick and agile publications that would push out wildly provocative content, generate millions of views, collect advertising revenue, and grow a big business very quickly. All of this was basically unsustainable on many levels. As the presidential election got closer, Facebook gradually shifted back again, away from allowing “fake news” and toward only pushing content from the old established news firms. Then in the name of seeming to be accurate, Facebook codified a number of third-party providers to “fact check” articles that went out on its platform. This very quickly became completely bogus. Any article that was pro-Trump or otherwise questioned the agenda of the left was deemed false and blocked; anything that was the opposite saw the light of day. This was the moment when Facebook opened itself up entirely to becoming a voice with a political agenda. This happened because it failed to find a technological means by which it could be even handed and democratic. It’s attempt to plan something like openness and humane engagement turned out to be a disaster. They just couldn’t figure it out. So they finally just decided to give up the game entirely. [No more banks. No more accountants. No more Wall Street?]( Urgent Crash Warning for Monday, September 20th, 2021 [bargain to bubble]( already knows that the stock market is in a bubble… But now some experts are starting to predict that the bubble will burst sooner than anyone expected and hit harder than anyone could have imagined. With some experts saying that we could see a stock market sell-off of 80% or more as soon as next week… This could completely decimate the retirement saving of millions of Americans all at once. So if you care about you and your family’s wealth the time to act is NOW. That’s why we flew in one of the top traders in America to tell you exactly what you need to do to get ready for this impending crash… [Click here to see his FREE presentation]( But hurry, because if you wait until Monday, it could already be too late. [FREE: The #1 Pre-IPO For The $100 Trillion Energy Disruption]( Now Facebook Works for Government After the lockdowns of March 2020, when many people were outraged at having their freedom taken away by executive edict, the CDC sought out partners to shut down debate about what was happening in America. The idea was that we were all supposed to stay home, mask up, be afraid, and stop complaining that our schools, businesses, and schools were closed by force. Mark Zuckerberg wrote Anthony Fauci an email, offering up Facebook as a platform to back the government’s message. Essentially they had gone full circle, giving up entirely on the idea of Meaningful Social Interactions in order to become nothing other than a propaganda tool for government. That situation persists to this day. If you post any article that questions any aspect of the main agenda —masking, vaxxing, complying, and generally curbing all exercise of what we once called freedom — Facebook will add a tag to your post that links directly to the CDC, with an exhortation to the reader not to believe what you say, but instead believe only what the government says. How significant is this? It’s beyond description. Facebook has 3 billion users. You probably have an account and most of your friends do too. By the way, if you do not have an account, I can only congratulate you! You are better off for it. That said, it largely operates as an international phonebook of sorts that both spies on you and pushes government propaganda on all uses. Just think about this for a moment. If American newspapers from twenty years ago had faced pressure from government to add to every article an additional article from a government agency, they would have resisted this ferociously as a violation of the first amendment. That is precisely what is being done now, not only with journals but with every post you put up. For that matter, many posts are immediately blocked. Today’s Prophecy Facebook, this revolutionary technology of democracy and free and open discussion among all peoples of the world, has been fundamentally transmogrified into a PR agency for the state. This will be its downfall. Yes, it will continue to exist for many years, but it won’t be trusted and it will be displaced. That is happening already as people hungry for information are moving to private sources, blockchain-backed sources, and uncensored platforms. We are what we know. Those who obtain their information from the most popular technologies of five years ago are walking in darkness. Regards, [Jeffrey Tucker] Jeffrey Tucker P.S.
