In this issue, get to know Sam Klaidman. How did you get into your career? Like most people, I took a circuitous path to where I am now. My first job was as a test engineer, where I designed tests and selected the sensors and data capture equipment. From there, I moved to several manufacturing companies where I worked as a manufacturing engineer, then the master scheduler, then the production manager, and finally the vice president of manufacturing. One day the CEO asked me if I wanted to take over the company’s service business. When I retired, I opened a consultancy, where I have been enjoying helping nice people solve ugly problems. What upcoming technology has the potential to change the way you do your job? First, we had Google, and our lives completely changed. The next major change agent will be artificial intelligence (AI). If well executed and rolled out to all of us, we will see everything we do change.
