Hi {NAME}, Moon face. It actually turned out that was the name people had for me when I was overweight (actually when I was trying to lose weight). I always held water in my face. So when I took creatine, it made it all the worse. But it turns out that during that time, I was doing something really, really wrong. I was subscribing to the notion that you needed 10-15g of sugar for every 1g of creatine to "enhance uptake." That used to be sort of the norm in the bodybuilding crowd. So here I was, taking 10g of creatine, but adding an extra 100g of carbs to my diet to help absorption. So I thought it was the creatine causing my moon-face.... but it really was just the excess carbohydrates (mainly sugar). Come to find out, according to Dr. Darren Candow, the water retention with creatine is extremely minimal and generally speaking is isolated to the intracellular space of the muscle. Meaning, it likely just makes your muscles fill up more. Now, it is true that some people can retain more water than others from creatine, but if you're not adding additional carbohydrates to the mix, you probably won't gain a lot of water. Anecdotally (myself and dozens of other athletes that I know), taking smaller doses of creatine throughout the day helps reduce some of the potential retention as well. This is why I will usually take 1-2g a few times per day. CREATE creatine gummies are a great choice for this because they're 1.5g per gummy and they're sweetened with allulose (and just the appropriate amount of carbs to help with uptake). Note - Allulose shows up on a label as a carbohydrate, even though it LOWERS blood sugar because it occupies the GLUT5 transporter. Since it is Amazon Prime Day - This is a very exclusive 2-day only 30% discount for CREATE creatine gummies on Amazon: [CLICK HERE FOR 30% OFF at AMAZON]( Dr. Darren Candow also explained that some of the effects of creatine can be felt within an hour or so. That is what is so wild, especially if you are sleep deprived. Since I have young kids, there are many days where I am sleep deprived (come on, you see those circles under my eyes in my vids sometimes, not always, right?), I will take an extra gummy an hour before filming or zoom calls. Helps keep me sharp. But I find that if I just take a larger bolus of creatine, I start retaining water quickly, sometimes within a day. For me, I like the effects of creatine on my recovery, my cognition, my sleep and my strength, but I cannot afford to hold the water and be Mr. "Moon Face" again. Not with what I do now. It's interesting, but I think there is something that happens when you combine creatine with allulose, too. I cannot describe what it is, but it seems like it helps the absorption. Maybe we can see a study on this soon. Since allulose is a rare "sugar" form figs and dates, there might be some way it helps utilization in the body... but who knows, it's a stretch. Either way, using a good form of creatine (CREATE gummies uses CreaPure, which is a cool creatine technology to be ultra pure and clean), is also a must. No need to spend crazy money on Creatine HCL, etc... You're just paying more for no reason. The goodness is in the dose. Equal, smaller doses throughout the day! See you tomorrow! The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
