Hi {NAME}, It is pretty awesome to see that there is a sweetener that actually has promise not just in the world of lowering blood sugar and insulin, but even shows evidence for fat loss directly There was a study that was published in Nutrients that demonstrated when allulose was consumed in comparison to sucralose, there was a significant reduction in bodyweight, body fat percentage, and a significant attenuation in subcutaneous abdominal fat (belly fat). Note that this was compared to sucralose, so it had nothing to do with calories. It had to do with the fact that allulose had a metabolic impact above and beyond just being low or zero calorie. Mechanistically, it is hypothesized that it has something to do with alluloseâs ability to decrease fatty-acid-synthase in the liver (store less fat) and itâs presumed ability to aid in the elimination of excess fats in the diet via the stool. Basically, participants pooped out more of the fat they consumed, ultimately lowering their energy intake. But there was another study also published in Nutrition This one investigated the effect of a single ingestion of allulose on postprandial energy metabolism. After consuming a standardized meal following overnight fasting, a group of healthy individuals were randomized to ingest either 5g allulose or 10mg aspartame. They saw a significant increase in fat oxidation and decrease in carbohydrate oxidation from allulose compared to the control. This means that subjects, AFTER a meal, burned more FROM fat! This is some of the most promising stuff II have seen in a while, and it is from a sweetener that is delicious. They found that allulose caused a reduction of plasma glucose at 30 minutes. Also at 30 minutes, allulose was associated with a trend towards lower insulin levels in comparison to the placebo. What we have here is something that really has metabolic promise. Itâs not just a sweetener, I would almost go so far as considering a metabolic aid.
