Hi {NAME}, Iâll be real, sometimes companies send me things that I would not have the discretionary income to afford otherwise. Iâm fortunate in that sense. But then there are things that I would spend money on month after month because the bang for the buck is there. In the case of longevity, there is a lot of overhyped stuff. You have guys like Bryan Johnson (very nice fella) that spend millions per year, but that is not realistic, even if it does work. Hereâs my 6 under $200 longevity recommendations: 1) BFR Bands: People think these are just for muscle building. Not at all. These are the cuffs that go around your arms or legs to trap some blood flow in the limbs while you workout. Sounds super weird, and it kind of is. But the benefit as far as lactate accumulation and CNS activity is huge. Lactate can have a huge metabolic impact and also fuel the brain. Soo BFR allows you to get to the end state of a workout FASTER without having to increase oxidative stress as much. 2) Cooling Vests: Hear me out on this one. I donât care what brand you use. You can find them on Amazon for like $30-200. But the idea is they cool your core. Most of the science shows that cold exposure is mainly effective when it is prolonged and moderate. Not so much freezing for a few moments. The evidence on brown fat and mitochondrial function is strong with prolonged exposure. Wear one of these vests with ice packs and go for a walk for an hour. You wont even realize that youâre having a serious metabolic impact. 3) Red Light Therapy Mini Devices: They WORK. Granted, the bigger panels are better and usually the more money you do spend, the better they are. But if youâre on a budget you definitely can find options under $200 for at least the miniature red light panels. Iâd say the biggest benefit to these panels is the circadian regulation. They definitely work well for recovery and pain, but the biggest impact is looking right into the thing (with usually provided glasses) and letting the 600nm wavelength light hit your eyes. I do this usually at night, but sometimes in the morning for 10 minutes. Minimum investment in money and time, and it might be what regulates your sleep enough to start looking and feeling younger. 4) Supplement wise, Urolithin A: I could probably list off a lot here to be honest. Closely tied with Urolithin A would be Taurine (much cheaper but an entirely different pathway), and of course a protein powder or creatine. But Urolithin A is in a category of its own. Really the only compound I have seen documented time and time again to increase mitophagy and subsequently improve mitochondrial density. ALL ROADS LEAD BACK TO MITOCHONDRIA with aging. PERIOD. Healthy mitochondria equals healthy aging. It really does seem to be that simple. As far as ingestible compounds, Timeline Nutrition and patented MitoPure technology is where it is at, and far less than $200. And between you, me, and the wall, I donât use it every single day, maybe a few times per week. It is the only thing I have taken where I actually FEEL younger from a performance aspect within days of taking it. They gave me a special 10% off discount link for my newsletter subscribers to try it: [( Trust me, you will notice feeling fresher in no time at all, not to mention the science is strong with the potential long term benefit. 5) Vegetable Fermentation Kits: Wild, right? There is so much controversy over vegetables. All these benefits that we know exist, but then concerns over anti-nutrients and what not. Honestly, it can be confusing. But what we DO KNOW is that fermented foods are great for the gut. Across the board we see positive association with fermented food intake, particularly fermented veggies. Just ask the baltics, Russians, Scandinavians that ferment a lot of food. Anyhow, these kits are usually $20-100 and they make it so easy. Grab veggies, throw them in there, add the starters or the like, preserve and eat. The more fermented food you eat, the better, plain and simple. Plus it allows you to preserve the antioxidants and benefits. If itâs accessible, you will eat it. 6) DXA Scan or if you have a bigger budget, a Prenuvo Scan: You can usually find a place to do a DXA scan for under 300, but if you watch for sales you can find them under $200. Why is this so important for longevity? Well, the correlation between visceral adipose tissue and mortality is very, very high. Not to mention the association just about all metabolic disease states. It is a way to see where you stand before its too late. Already thin? Not worried about it? Think again. Lots of people are thin with high VAT. Spend the money, get a VAT reading and a DXA so you can start taking measures ti reduce VAT and Fatty Liver. For that, I have a few good videos on my channel. Just search "DeLauer Visceral Fat" on the olâ YouTube. Hopefully this newsletter was helpful and teaches you a few budget ways to get more out of your days here on this wild planet. You do not need to be a millionaire to be a biohacking, longevity geek. You just need to be able to filter through the nonsense.
