[- - -] [TheWrap - SUMMER TV WATCH LIST] Week of August 22-28 Usually, we have to wait until Halloween to get a good batch of scary movies and shows. But this week, we see the return of not one, not two but THREE great horror stories (one of which has “horror story” right in the name!). On with the television! [Premiere of the week]
“The Walking Dead”
Sunday, August 22, AMC Photo: AMC
The 11th and final season of “The Walking Dead” premieres this week and will tell its final tales with three blocks of eight episodes (the last ones to air next year). Only a few original cast members still remain from when the show debuted in 2010 and it’s probably a safe bet not everyone makes it through to the series finale. Episodes air a week early on AMC+, so beware of spoilers. [[EPISODE 1 RECAP](]

Season 5 of this “The Good Wife” spinoff comes to an end this week and it is hard to imagine this show getting any crazier. Ghost Ruth Bader Ginsberg? Check. Lawyers arguing cases in animal costumes? Check. Christine Baranski’s character possessed by the devil? OK, we made that one up. Just making sure you were paying attention. [[WATCH](]

So we have an unofficial rule here at the Watch List to only pick movies that you can watch on your television when they come out. BUT OMG CANDYMAN IS FINALLY HERE AND WE’RE SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!! Um, we mean, after having its release date pushed back three times due to the pandemic, Nia DaCosta’s sequel to the classic 1992 movie is coming to theaters this week. Candyman, Candyman, Candyman, Candyman … [[TRAILER](]

Watching or re-watching “The West Wing” is never a bad idea. But after the last four years — and a rough start to 2021 — spending some time with the Bartlet administration sounds particularly good right about now. [[WATCH](]
