Also Inside: Health benefits of castor seed oil… Sunday, July 2, 2023   On this day in 1776, Caesar Rodney, a man whose name may be unfamiliar to some, defied the odds to play an instrumental role in the shaping of our great nation. Amidst swirling debates and disputes among the 13 Colonies regarding independence, Delaware's vote was split, and Rodney, as the tie-breaking vote, was needed. However, Rodney was not in Philadelphia where the Continental Congress was meeting; he was in Delaware, roughly 80 miles away.  News reached Rodney about the deadlock, and with no time to spare, he embarked on an all-night ride through stormy weather to reach Philadelphia. Despite suffering from asthma and cancer, he arrived on the morning of July 2nd, just in time to cast the deciding vote for Delaware. With this act, he allowed the resolution of independence to pass, paving the way for the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776. His inspiring journey illustrates the profound determination and courage embodied by our Founding Fathers.  As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, we remember that this day predates the establishment of our U.S. government. It marks the moment in history when a brave group of individuals stood firm against tyranny, throwing off the shackles of an oppressive government. It is a celebration not just of a nation, but of the spirit of liberty and the resolve of those who demanded it.  Yet, the journey towards liberty didn't stop with the Declaration of Independence. Every citizen plays a role in safeguarding the freedom and values instilled by our Founding Fathers. Independence Day is not only a commemoration of our past, but also a reminder of our shared responsibility to protect our democracy. The same spirit that drove Rodney through the storm should inspire us all to hold our government accountable and fight against any form of oppression.  As we celebrate 274 years of freedom, let's remember that the essence of this day goes beyond the vibrant fireworks and joyful parades. It serves as a reminder that every citizen must remain vigilant against all forms of tyranny – even from our own government. In this way, we honor the legacy of 1776 and ensure that the torch of freedom continues to burn brightly for another 274 years, and beyond.  Let’s dive in…   Medicinal Justice: How the Law Protects Big Pharma & Harms Victims (Part 1) – The pharmaceutical industry is a vast and complex realm.
