[] How I Approach Each Trading Day and Craft My Morning Hitlist [] We’re at the midway point and trading has been tough sledding this week with hardly any volume or volatility to speak of… And that all adds up to very little movement in the major indices, and very little movement in the stocks that make them up: [] Each morning during my “Premarket Must Watch” live session on YouTube — hit that subscribe button and join hundreds of traders at 8 a.m. ET each weekday! — I give a hitlist of stocks for the day. The list is made up of stocks at the top of my radar for the upcoming session, and includes longs and shorts. After the market opens, I watch these stocks and look for breakouts or breakdowns during the first half-hour of trading — I don’t make any moves until at least 10 a.m. ET, once things settle down a bit. The opening 30 minutes is a time for liquidation, not for entering new positions. Pro traders rarely trade during this period except to exit positions that popped or dropped on the open. Here’s my updated list of stocks for today: Longs: • Dell (DELL). • Spotify: (SPOT). • Taiwan Semiconductors: (TSM). • Arista Networks: (ANET). • Delta (DAL). • Antero Resources (AR).Shorts: • Fortinet (FTNT). • Abbott (ABT). • Intel (INTC). • Papa John’s (PZZA).I update this list after the first half-hour, and then watch each one closely with the help of my ProTrader Dashboard, and then determine which plays are the most likely to go our way — I only pick trades I’m comfortable with holding overnight or a couple of days max. And so far today, I’m not getting much in the way of market bias… Usually when this happens, the best thing to do is sit tight and wait for something really enticing to develop. Patience is key. People are often surprised when I say I don’t have a directional bias at every given moment, but that’s because keeping an open mind is a must in trading. I came into today’s session with a bearish lean, but now I’m neutral. You have to be willing to change your opinion as the market changes — which is constant!
