DON’T MISS AFP via Getty Images israel-hamas war [Allies are calling for answers after an Israeli airstrike killed seven aid workers, including one Canadian]( An Israeli airstrike late Monday night killed seven aid workers, including a 33-year-old Canadian, drawing condemnation from Israel’s allies, Allan Woods reports. The strike further underscores the shocking UN statistic that three times more humanitarian workers have died in Gaza than the annual death tolls for the world’s most savage battlegrounds. The workers were with World Central Kitchen, an American aid group helping to fill hungry bellies in zones of war, catastrophe and disaster. Among the identified dead is Jacob Flickinger, a dual Canadian-American citizen, along with three Brits, an Australian, a Pole and a Palestinian. [Take a closer look at the tragedy](. - The fallout: Canada has joined allies including the United States, Poland and Australia in condemning the attack and demanding a full investigation. [It is “absolutely unacceptable” to attack aid workers, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Tuesday](.
- Why it matters: The attack resulted in World Central Kitchen pulling out of Gaza, as famine appears imminent in parts of the strip. [Ships containing some 240 tons of aid from the charitable group turned back from Gaza just a day after arriving](.
- What we know: Founded in 2010 by celebrity chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen says it has delivered more than 43 million meals to Palestinians in the course of the war. Canadian Press/Nathan Denette foreign interference [Jagmeet Singh was warned about a potential threat against his life, the foreign interference inquiry heard]( Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh was among the Sikh Canadians warned about potential threats to their lives after the killing of B.C. Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar last year. The revelation heard by the foreign interference inquiry on Tuesday added new context to the allegations of potential threats posed by foreign states to Canada’s politicians and democratic systems, Stephanie Levitz and Alex Ballingall report. Singh’s principal secretary said she could not comment on the threat, nor could she confirm whether it resulted in Singh now having a security detail. [Here’s what else the inquiry has heard](. - Miss something? Nijjar’s death sparked a diplomatic crisis after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau revealed he had seen [“credible” information linking India to the murder](. Remembered as a community activist in Canada, Nijjar was branded a terrorist in 2020 by India.

Steve Russell/The Star courts [A group fighting Doug Ford’s Ontario Place spa plan has scored a legal victory over the premier]( Citizens’ group Ontario Place for All (OP4A) has scored a minor victory in their fight to keep a private spa from being built at Ontario Place. Doug Ford’s government has fought to squash the group’s requested judicial review into the decision to redevelop the site without a full environmental assessment — but in a recent ruling, a judge declined to let the government have its way, Francine Kopun reports. “It cannot be said that OP4A’s concerns about governance in defiance of environmental legislation are frivolous or unworthy of argument,” Justice Nancy Backhouse wrote in her ruling. [Here’s what you need to know](. - More: A week after OP4A applied for judicial review last year the province tabled the Rebuilding Ontario Place Act in an attempt to exempt the redevelopment from the Environmental Assessment Act.
- What’s at stake? OP4A argues West Island redevelopment will destroy its naturalized ecosystem, including 840 trees, all vegetation and an internationally recognized landscape, as well as alleging that it will contour and fill the lagoons and small waterways, destroying 36,000 square metres of aquatic habitat.
- Edward Keenan’s take: The provincial plan to raze a mature forest, privatize a huge swath of waterfront public land and replace a public park with a private spa and waterpark has [all the makings of an epic, generation-defining mistake for Toronto](.
