The Americans who qualify are, drum roll please: those who’ve worked in public service and have been making payments for 10 years or more, those with disabilities, and those who’ve made payments for at least 20 years and missed out on forgiveness opportunities they qualified for. As for everyone else? [Student loan repayments]( are back in full swing after a three-year pause. And with [inflation]( still on the up and up, Americans have [less money to save](. [One survey]( reportedly found many borrowers are “very concerned” about making ends meet — and put off splurging on a big expense. The news comes as the Biden admin said it’s forgiven $127 billion in debt to date, impacting almost 3.6 million people. But [critics]( said student loan forgiveness isn’t fair to Americans who don’t have debt or paid it off. theSkimm Today, [43 million Americans]( owe $1.77 trillion in student loans.
