Tell me more. Yesterday, President Biden announced his administration is forging $9 billion in student loans. The Americans who qualify are, drum roll please: those whoâve worked in public service and have been making payments for 10 years or more, those with disabilities, and those whoâve made payments for at least 20 years and missed out on forgiveness opportunities they qualified for. As for everyone else? [Student loan repayments]( are back in full swing after a three-year pause. And with [inflation]( still on the up and up, Americans have [less money to save](. [One survey]( reportedly found many borrowers are âvery concernedâ about making ends meet â and put off splurging on a big expense. The news comes as the Biden admin said itâs forgiven $127 billion in debt to date, impacting almost 3.6 million people. But [critics]( said student loan forgiveness isnât fair to Americans who donât have debt or paid it off. theSkimm Today, [43 million Americans]( owe $1.77 trillion in student loans. Thatâs about the size of the annual GDP of Australia. Now, almost 1 in 10 Americans owes more than $80,000 in federal student loans. Jordan, a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus who was willing to shut down the government over [aid for Ukraine](, said the GOP now needs to âcome together.â And with Scalise looking to take the speakerâs gavel, the House GOP could have another leadership position vacant soon. For what itâs worth, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) said he thinks âvery highlyâ of Scalise and is willing to vote for him. â¦Oh and while Republicans are hashing it out, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wonât be able to [clear her belongings]( out of her hideaway office. Sheâs in California and wonât make it before itâs rekeyed after the new speaker pro tempore kicked her out. --------------------------------------------------------------- Who showed face and then left⦠[Former President Trump](. He said he would rather be in Iowa, where Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis's (R) campaign is [now partially based](. Trump also called the attorney general who brought the case against him âcorruptâ and filed an appeal to the [pretrial ruling]( that said he committed fraud. Then, during the lunch break, Trump traveled to his Florida home. With him out of the courtroom, the AG said âthe Donald Trump show is overâ and that his attendance was ânothing more than a political stunt.â â¦Oh and speaking of court appearances, yesterday, Sam Bankman-Friedâs lawyers called him a [âmath nerdâ]( during opening statements at his fraud trial. Boy math. --------------------------------------------------------------- Whatâs kicking it around the world⦠[The 2030 menâs World Cup](. The opening three matches will kick off in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay. The rest of the matches will be held in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. While airlines may be happy, climate groups are not. With just over 765,000 fans reportedly having [traveled to Qatar]( during the first two weeks of the games this past 2022, the move could be a reversal of [FIFAâs goal]( to cut its carbon emissions in half by 2030 and reach net zero by 2040. One advocate called it âa recipe for disaster.â FIFA has reportedly said this will be the first âfully carbon-neutral World Cup,â but didnât say how. --------------------------------------------------------------- Who wants you to stay sat...
