[View it in your browser.]( [SHARE THIS]( [SHARE THIS]( Skimm for March 30th Skimm’d over salmon avocado rolls QUOTE OF THE DAY “Borders on narcotic” — [The description]( of a type of South African coffee that you can now get in the US. It’s supposed to be the strongest coffee in the world. Pour it up. Skimm This[Like Us]( with Us]( [Insta This]( RUSSIAN ROULETTE THE STORY Yesterday, the Senate Intelligence Committee [popped its head out]( to say ‘don’t worry, we’ve got this Russia investigation under control.’ 10 SECONDS. REMIND ME. The US intelligence community says [Russia meddled]( in last year’s presidential election, in part to help President Trump get the W. The FBI, and intel committees within the House and Senate, are all separately conducting investigations into whether Team Trump was working with Russia. The House investigation’s the one stealing the spotlight. WHY’S THAT? Because the man in charge - Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) - has been raising some eyebrows. He’s been accused of [colluding with the White House]( to help back up claims that Trump was [wiretapped]( former President Obama. Paging Aaron Sorkin. Note: intel committees are supposed to be nonpartisan and Miss Independent. So now there are calls for Nunes to step down from leading the House investigation into Russia. In the meantime, it looks like that investigation’s been [put on hold.]( SO WHAT’S THE LATEST? The Senate committee’s taking the talking stick. Yesterday, the GOP leader of the group — Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) — said that even though he voted for Trump, he’s putting “personal beliefs” aside to get to the bottom of this. The Senate committee holds its first public hearing today. theSKIMM This is being called one of the [biggest investigation to hit Congress in decades]( and it’s being held up by political infighting. Investigations like this can take years. So hearing ‘Trump’ and ‘Russia’ in the same sentence probably isn’t going to stop anytime soon. Skimm This[Like Us]( with Us]( REPEAT AFTER ME... WHAT TO SAY TO YOUR FRIEND WHO ALWAYS COMPLAINS ABOUT TRAFFIC... This might make you feel better. Yesterday, two former aides to NJ Gov. Chris Christie (R) — Bridget Anne Kelly and Bill Baroni — were [sentenced to prison.]( Yes, this has to do with Bridgegate. Reminder: in 2013, access lanes to the George Washington Bridge in NJ were shut down for days, leading to some pretty [epic traffic jams.]( Prosecutors pointed the finger at Christie’s team, saying they shut down the lanes to get back at a NJ mayor for not supporting Christie’s re-election run. Team Christie’s been saying the lanes were closed for a “traffic study.” Christie’s always said ‘don’t look at me’ and denies having anything to do with the scandal. Last year, after a weeks-long trial, [a jury said Kelly and Baroni were guilty]( of things like conspiracy and wire fraud. Now both are going to prison. Water under the Bridgegate. Skimm This[Like Us]( with Us]( WHAT TO SAY TO WHEN YOUR CO-WORKER SUGGESTS FLORAL BRANDING FOR SPRING.. Surprise. Yesterday, President Trump said[‘you’re hired’]( to his daughter, Ivanka Trump. Reminder: the Trump administration has faced a lot of questions about [potential conflicts of interest.]( week, it came out that Ivanka was becoming an [informal adviser to dad.]( be unpaid but get her own office and security clearance. And since she wouldn’t technically have federal employee status, she wouldn’t have had to follow gov ethics standards. Ethics experts said ‘hmmm this raises a lot of red flags.’ So now Ivanka’s getting an ‘Assistant to the President’ business card, and joining her husband Jared Kushner as an official team member. Keeping it in the fam. Skimm This[Like Us]( with Us]( WHAT TO SAY WHEN YOU’RE WINNING THE OFFICE BRACKET… Money, money, money. BuzzFeed’s seeing dollar signs too. Yesterday, it came out that the website [might be going public next year.]( a lot of people apparently took that ‘Which Gilmore Girl Are You?’ quiz, and the company’s been growing faster than a meme can spread. NBCUniversal decided it wanted a piece of the viral pie and has [invested hundreds of millions in the company]( in recent years. Now, it looks like BuzzFeed wants to bring all that click bait to the stock market. In other media news…earlier this week, Fox News was sued for [racial discrimination](. Two black women sued a former senior exec, saying he made racially insensitive comments to them for years and that the company looked the other way. This comes as Fox News has been tangled up in a lot of [sexual harassment claims]( several prominent female employees. Those claims led the Fox News chairman, Roger Ailes, to pack his bags and go. Now there’s this. Fox News says the accused boss has been fired and that the lawsuit is “needless.” PS: 21st Century Fox is a minority investor in theSkimm. Also the best time of year to buy a car. New models typically get sent to dealerships in the fall. Meaning dealers need to sell off the older stuff to make room. So if you’re thinking of getting a new set of wheels…wait it out. [Here are some other pointers.]( SKIMM LIFE Skimm A hates the dentist. So to put off her next visit, she’s upping her toothbrush game with [this subscription service.]( It even sends you new replacement brushes on the reg. And Skimm’rs get a discount. You’re welcome.
