The Idaho law offers no exceptions for an abortion other than to save the life of the mother, leaving doctors with no choice but to wait until a pregnant person’s condition deteriorates. The Biden administration argues that the [Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act]( (EMTALA) requires Idaho to provide emergency abortion care at federally-funded hospitals. Now, it’s up to the high court to weigh in. What are they saying? The court’s liberal justices seemed to side with the Biden admin. They [questioned]( how much a pregnant person should suffer before they’re considered to be on the verge of death and doctors can intervene. Several conservative justices appeared to be [skeptical of the lawsuit](.
