Hi {NAME}, The Register: Tech Resources - 27 September 2019 ### What next after Netezza? IBM has officially announced the discontinuation of support for the Netezza product line, starting in July 2019. This forces its customers to move to a new platform for enterprise support. The migration path to IBM’s suggested replacement product, the IBM Integrated Analytics System (IIAS), is far from straightforward. In fact, the migration is proving to be a much more complex and time-intensive exercise than most people anticipated. As a result, many existing Netezza customers are sensibly looking to re-evaluate the current marketplace to explore easier and quicker migration options. Fortunately, Exasol's analytics database is an in-memory, column-oriented, relational database management system (RDMS) that’s conceptually similar to Netezza. However, they’ve taken the massive parallel computing (MPP) concept to a new higher level to enable improved and accelerated data analytic capabilities on flexible, commodity hardware. Successful companies around the world rely upon Exasol’s innovative solution to run their businesses faster and smarter. Exasol holds performance records in the TPC-H online transaction processing benchmark from The Transaction Processing Performance Council (TPC) for decision-support databases - outperforming competitors by orders of magnitudes and scaling up to hundreds of terabytes of data. The accelerating rate of change in business, combined with new emerging technology innovations, is expected to provide both challenges and opportunities for business and IT decisions makers. Digital transformation (DX) remains at the heart of leading organisations’ efforts responding to these pressures. Indeed, IDC believes by 2022, 60%+ of global GDP will be digitized, with growth in every industry driven by digitally enhanced offerings, operations, and relationships. What lies at the centre of this digital movement is data. Good data is the fuel for DX, whereas low quality, inconsistent or poorly formatted data can derail it. The ability to harness data effectively is what marks many leading organisations out from those who are struggling. These companies are using analytics applied to data to expertly guide business decisions that have often been guided by gut instinct and intuition in the past. This push toward greater data use and reliance means many more organisations are structuring business projects around the delivery and use of data. In other words, they’re striving to become more data-driven. If so, you’ve probably already built a modern data-oriented infrastructure. Yet we have found even organizations at the cutting edge of data have common challenges around people, process and tooling. These challenges are caused by fast growth, changing organizational strategy and a shifting competitive landscape. In this webinar, our very own Jon Collins speaks to Greg DeMichillie, Director of Developer Strategy at Google and Omri Keret, VP R&D at Apester about: * Principles for delivering higher levels of business value from data * How to deal with the (permanent) data scientists and analyst skills shortage * Data performance and management overheads - how to scale without hitting a wall So, if you want to continue to outpace the market using data, tune in. But getting the most from your data requires more from the tools you use – and that often means using several tools in conjunction with each other. Just as important as identifying and using the right tool for the right job, it’s important to acknowledge that, together, different tools have a greater power when you want to maximize the value of your data. Exasol is the world’s fastest in-memory analytic database; Alteryx is a leading data blending solution; Tableau is a market-leading data visualization tool. Each offers unique and powerful functionality to process, arrange and visualize your data. But what makes these more powerful? A combination of all three in a single solution stack: EAT. By bringing together all three tools, you can take advantage of high-speed data analytics (Exasol), then mix and blend your data (Alteryx) and visualize and bring the outcomes to life (Tableau). As a result, you get the benefits of all three. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
