[TPG | Hero Image] Itâs a new year, and that means a reset on many points and miles accounts, travel credits and loyalty programs. Our team of experts has [compiled a checklist]( to help you get the year off to a great start and make the most of your miles, points and credits. Here are just a few reminders to get you started: If you have an [American Express card with an annual fee credit]( make sure you log in to your account to designate the airline for the year by Jan. 31 if you want to make a change. If you do nothing, it will remain the same as the previous year. Delta Air Lines and Marriott higher-tier elite members both have Choice Benefits to designate in the new year. [Marriottâs deadline is Sunday]( and [Deltaâs is Jan. 31](. If youâre in the market for free flights, then Southwest Airlines might be a good choice for you, depending on your home airport and desired destinations. You can earn the coveted [Companion Pass]( this year and enjoy BOGO flights for the rest of 2024 and 2025. The sign-up bonuses from Southwest credit cards count toward the 135,000 qualifying points needed to earn a Companion Pass, and cardholders receive an annual 10,000-point boost, so signing up for a new [Southwest credit card]( can help give you a head start.
