Also: Higher fees, less service: Why the value of cruising isn't what it used to be December 11, 2023 [THE POINTS GUY]( [View in browser]( [TPG Daily NEWSLETTER]( [THE POINTS GUY]( Personalized experiences are trending by Cameron Sperance, Senior Hotels Reporter [TPG | Hero Image] Greetings from Cannes, France, TPG readers! I’m here for the International Luxury Travel Market, the biggest annual gathering of luxury hoteliers in the world. But this is about more than just hotels that most of us can only dream of. Trends here permeate throughout the entire industry. [Chase previewed The Edit by Chase Travel]( — currently known as the Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection — Tuesday morning. The upcoming change, slated to launch early next year, will add an editorial component to the platform by noting what a property is best known for and how it syncs up with traveler needs and preferences. This leads me to one of the biggest takeaways from the event: the rise of personalized experiences. From taking guests to the farms where their food is made to hot-air balloon rides, luxury hoteliers are finding ways to make the experience stay fresher than ever — especially in a climate where there aren’t too many new hotels opening. There was also the debut of IHG’s new Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel. [IHG’s vision for Regent is one to watch]( — and a potential threat to other brands like Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton. That’s all from me for today. I’ll catch y’all tomorrow! Cameron Posts in this newsletter contains references to products from one or more of our advertisers.
