[THE POINTS GUY]( [View in browser]( [TPG Daily NEWSLETTER]( [THE POINTS GUY]( Reasons you need the Citi Premier Card
by Katie Genter, Senior Writer
[TPG | Hero Image] A few years back, I received an email from a reader arguing that [Citi ThankYou Rewards is the most underappreciated program](. I tend to agree, although I definitely believe it's best to earn and use several different transferable rewards currencies. Within the Citi ThankYou Rewards program, one card that stands out is the [Citi Premier® Card](. As I write in my article about [reasons you need the Citi Premier Card]( the card offers a sign-up bonus of 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 in the first three months of account opening. Youâll get about $600 worth of value from 60,000 Citi ThankYou points if you redeem for gift cards, statement credits and bookings through the Citi travel portal. But you can get significantly more value â $1,080 based on [TPGâs valuations]( â if you redeem your points with the [Citi ThankYou Rewards transfer partners](. You can also [transfer rewards earned on other Citi ThankYou cards]( to your Citi Premier account. By doing so, you can use rewards earned across all your Citi ThankYou cards with the full set of Citi ThankYou transfer partners. Hence, rewards from your other Citi ThankYou cards become more valuable once you add the [Citi Premier]( to your wallet. The Citi Premier offers 10 points per dollar spent on hotels, car rentals and attractions booked through the [Citi travel portal]( through June 30, 2024. Youâll earn 3 points per dollar on other hotel purchases, air travel and at restaurants, supermarkets and gas stations, and 1 point per dollar on all other purchases.
