[TPG | Hero Image] During my recent trip to Hawaii, I had the opportunity to review [United Airlines' economy class]( [The Modern Honolulu hotel]( and [Hawaiian Airlines' lie-flat first class](. The Modern Honolulu, previously known as the Waikiki Edition, is now owned by Hilton Grand Vacations. The hotel provides an upgraded experience not far from the beach with its trendy decor and inviting Sunrise Pool area. Despite its slightly secluded location, it remains conveniently close to the attractions of Waikiki, making it an ideal choice for couples or solo travelers seeking a stylish getaway. On board [Hawaiian Airlines]( I was welcomed with captivating videos of traditional hula dances and soothing music. The airline offered delightful predeparture beverages like Flor prosecco, passion-orange-guava juice and its renowned Hawaiian mai tai cocktail with fresh pineapple slices. While not as premium as long-haul business- or first-class seats, Hawaiian Airlines' A330 first class provides a comfortable and enjoyable flying experience, particularly between its Hawaiian hubs and mainland U.S. destinations. There are also [new amenity kits coming to Hawaiian Airlines soon](. I booked my Hawaiian flight using the [Pay with Points]( feature on [The Business Platinum Card® from American Express](. By redeeming 77,050 Amex points, I took advantage of the 35%-points-back benefit for business- or first-class tickets on any airline. This lowered the ticket cost to 50,082 Amex points, which I thought was a solid deal. Additionally, I earned 3,957 HawaiianMiles, equivalent to 150% of the flight distance.
