Also: 6 Las Vegas hotel suites you have to see to believe June 27, 2023 [THE POINTS GUY]( [View in browser]( [TPG Daily NEWSLETTER]( [THE POINTS GUY]( Luxury in the skies by Kyle Olsen, Points & Miles Reporter [TPG | Hero Image] [Lufthansa first class]( is known to offer a flight of a lifetime with its direct-aisle-access suites, exceptional seasonal dining, German hospitality, personalized service, and exclusive Porsche, L'Occitane and Evian amenities that make it worth every penny — or better yet, every airline mile. Around 36 hours before my [Airbus A340-600]( flight from Munich to Chicago (which I had booked a few months ago in business class using United Airlines miles), [ExpertFlyer alerted me]( that Lufthansa had released [first-class award space](. After confirming the award space, I considered these three currencies to book: - Avianca LifeMiles: 87,000 miles (lower award rates are available if you [combine with a short-haul mixed-cabin award]( - Air Canada Aeroplan: 100,000 points - United MileagePlus: 121,000 miles While lesser-known Star Alliance programs like [Aegean Miles+Bonus]( and [Asiana Club]( offer Lufthansa first-class tickets for 50,000 miles, these programs often charge over $500 in taxes and fees, and more notably, [Marriott Bonvoy is the only major transfer partner]( of Aegean and Asiana. As a United loyalist, I redeemed [recently devalued MileagePlus miles]( for this trip. I was able to change my flight on United’s website and redeem the additional miles between business and first class. Beginning with the warm handshake on the Porsche Cayenne ground transfer that met me on my inbound flight from Spain to the truffle pasta served before landing, Lufthansa first class was simply the best flight of my life. And this summer, Lufthansa has been liberally releasing first-class award space shortly before flights. These are some of the credit cards that have Avianca LifeMiles and Air Canada Aeroplan as transfer partners, allowing you to book Lufthansa first-class awards: - [The Platinum Card® from American Express]( - [The Business Platinum Card® from American Express]( - [American Express® Gold Card]( - [Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card]( - [Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card]( Posts in this newsletter contains references to products from one or more of our advertisers.
