Also: A review of the Hilton Tokyo Bay May 22, 2023 [THE POINTS GUY]( [View in browser]( [TPG Daily NEWSLETTER]( [THE POINTS GUY]( WHAT THE HECK IS PREMIUM ECONOMY, ANYWAY? by Tarah Chieffi, Travel News Writer [TPG | Hero Image] The [premium economy]( cabin class is becoming more and more popular in the world of air travel. You’ve probably heard the term or seen it listed when booking a flight, but if you are still curious about what this [not-quite-business, not-quite-economy]( class actually is, here’s what you need to know. Proportions: You’ll get about 4 to 6 inches more legroom than you would in a regular economy seat, plus larger armests and possibly a footrest. Perks: You aren’t likely to receive complimentary lounge access, a welcome glass of Champagne or a multicourse meal like in business class, but you will get more than a bag of peanuts and a tiny bottle of water. Offerings vary depending on the carrier, but most premium economy seats come with bedding, a basic amenity kit and a hot meal. Price: You can expect to pay at least $500 more for your ticket than you would for regular economy, but we’ve seen premium economy prices that were two to three times higher than regular economy. And if you’re redeeming points, expect a similar difference: anywhere between one-and-a-half and three times more than regular economy points pricing. If you are considering premium economy, you'll need to decide if the [benefits are worth that difference](. TPG staffers have been testing out premium economy class on many airlines to help you decide if this intermediate product is right for your next flight.
