Also: The best hotels in Maui [The Points Guy]( WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TODAY Apr 18, 2023 DON'T FEAR THE FEE When signing up for a new credit card, especially one with great perks and benefits, you might be deterred by a high annual fee. Instead of just looking at the fee, though, consider the benefits and which ones you’ll use. If the savings you get from those benefits add up, it could still be worth getting the card, even if it has a high annual fee. For me and my fiance, the jaw-dropping $695 annual fee (see [rates and fees]( for [The Platinum Card® from American Express]( had us wondering if it would be worth it in the end. After having it for a while now, it's safe to say that getting the card was the right move for us. We’ve probably covered the annual fee just by eating and drinking at the various lounges the card has given us access to at airports. Plus, we receive a $200 statement credit for booking hotels through [American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts]( and get on-property credits to use during our stays, two of many perks that have netted us more value than what we've spent. - [Is the Amex Platinum worth the annual fee?]( My [Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card]( carries a $95 annual fee but also comes with valuable benefits, such as a yearly 35,000-point reward night certificate. That certificate alone is worth nearly $300, making this card another I'll continue to hold on to despite its annual fee.
