Also: World of Hyatt status match to MGM Rewards [The Points Guy]( WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TODAY Feb 22, 2023 IT'S NOT TOO LATE FOR PLATINUM This time last month, I was stressed out. After mistakenly thinking I was still waiting for a flight and its Loyalty Points earnings to post to my [American Airlines AAdvantage account]( I realized I was about 7,000 points short of earning Platinum elite status with my go-to airline. And I had no plans to travel before the Feb. 28 cutoff. It was time to get creative. My initial thought was to book a staycation as a Valentine’s Day surprise for my fiance through [Rocketmiles]( which had hotels offering over 7,000 AAdvantage points for a one-night stay. But for a last-minute stay, these rates were still pretty expensive, so I passed. What ended up securing my Platinum status was an elevated offer in the [AAdvantage eShopping portal]( for a one-year membership to a stock adviser company. For $89 I scored 6,200 Loyalty Points that posted in just two days. Combined with a couple of hundred points that I also forgot were set to post from my Aviator card, it pushed me over the 75,000-point threshold I needed for Platinum elite status. If you’re where I was last month, it’s not too late to snag some last-minute AAdvantage points using these tips: - [Last-minute strategies for earning American AAdvantage elite status]( - [6 quick and easy ways to earn Loyalty Points before the end of the American elite year]( - [Using Rocketmiles to earn points, miles or gift cards on hotel stays]( - [Earn American Airlines Loyalty Points and miles through the AAdvantage shopping portal]( And to quote a song from Miranda Lambert, one of my all-time favorite singers, “Something ‘bout platinum irrefutably, looks as good on records as it does on me.” Photo by Zach Griff/The Points Guy.
