Also: How to save money with a Delta companion ticket [The Points Guy]( WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TODAY Feb 17, 2023 HERE WE GO! Greetings from the Mushroom Kingdom! If you had told childhood Tarah that she would one day get to step into the world of her favorite video games, she never would have believed you. Yet here I am, standing in front of Bowser’s Castle, rubbing elbows with Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach and racing down the Rainbow Road in a real-life Mario Kart race at the grand opening of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood. Sure, it’s fun to see games you played for hours (and hours) on end during your childhood come to life, but what’s even more fascinating to me is how much theme parks have changed over the years. This level of immersion was unprecedented until [The Wizarding World of Harry Potter]( opened at Universal Orlando in 2010. Now, it is par for the course. At Disney World, you can board a starcruiser for a [two-night adventure in space](. At Disneyland, you can train with your favorite superheroes at [Avengers Campus](. And there’s much more to come. When [Universal’s Epic Universe]( opens in Orlando in 2025, the park will have its own version of Super Nintendo World, along with other highly immersive lands that are rumored to be themed to Universal Classic Monsters, the “How to Train Your Dragon” franchise and more. With each new land and attraction that opens, theme parks close the gap between fantasy and reality just a little bit more, and I am very excited for the future. If you want to [learn more about Super Nintendo World, you can read my full guide](. And if you are just as excited about what’s to come at your favorite theme parks, here are a few recent stories: - [How Universal is stepping out of the mouse's shadow to become the hottest theme park]( - [Tron Lightcycle Run ride to open at Disney World in April]( - [8 magical new reasons to visit Disneyland this year]( - [Surprising things you can do at Universal Orlando without a park ticket]( Photo by Tarah Chieffi/The Points Guy.
