Also: The fastest route through LaGuardia [The Points Guy]( WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TODAY Feb 2, 2023 SPONSORED BY [TPG] AIRPORT LOUNGE ACCESS IS CHANGING Among the many perks of being a frequent flyer or premium credit card holder, airport lounge access is a favorite for many travelers. Airport lounges not only offer a comfortable, relaxing place to work, rest or freshen up after a long flight, but they also offer complimentary food and drinks that can save you money that you would otherwise spend buying food in the terminal. If you are one such frequent traveler, it’s likely that in the past year, you’ve waited in a long line to enter a lounge or been denied entry altogether [due to overcrowding](. The issue boils down to a perfect storm of staffing issues, a major bounce back in air travel and the sheer number of credit cards that include airport lounge access as a perk. Of the various steps being taken to [combat overcrowding]( two major lounge groups are restricting access to guests who have long enjoyed lounge access as a perk of either their airline status or which credit cards they carry in their wallet. Beginning today, [Delta Sky Club]( members flying on a basic economy ticket and elite members on international flights in Main Cabin or Comfort+ can no longer access the Sky Club (unless they have an eligible American Express card with Sky Club access). [American Express Centurion Lounges]( are also putting more limitations on who can access their lounges. Before this change, The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express cardholders could bring up to two guests into the Centurion Lounge free of charge. Now, the price for bringing those same guests into the Centurion Lounge is going up to $50 for adults and $30 for children ages 2-17. Children under 2, however, can enter for free when accompanying an adult. The only way around this is to meet a hefty annual spending requirement on your eligible Amex card. If you spend $75,000 or more in a calendar year, you will receive complimentary guest privileges for the following year. Cardholders who hit the spending threshold in 2022 will retain their guest benefits for 2023 but will need to meet the threshold again this year to keep the benefit for 2024. Every cloud has a silver lining, however. In this case, we hope the silver lining is less-crowded lounges and shorter wait times. If you are traveling this week and still notice long lines to get into the Sky Club or Centurion lounges, we’d love to see your photos and hear about your experience over in our Facebook group, the [TPG Lounge](.
