Also: Staying at the cheapest all-inclusive resort in Egypt [The Points Guy]( WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TODAY May 25, 2022 PRIORITIZING HOTEL LOCATION I lived out of hotels as a [digital nomad]( for almost three years before returning to the U.S. amid the pandemic lockdowns of early 2020. I spent much of the last two years [traveling by recreational vehicle]( within the U.S., but after slowly shifting from [spending all our time RVing]( to using the RV as a base between trips abroad, my husband and I plan to resume full-time international travel this summer. So, we'll be returning to living out of hotels. Before the coronavirus pandemic, we often sacrificed hotel location to get a good deal. For example, I once stayed at a hotel in a mall outside Nola, Italy, to take advantage of an [IHG PointBreaks promotion](. The hotel itself was fine, but I felt trapped for nine nights as taxis were expensive and there wasn't any public transportation within walking distance. As we've begun traveling again, I've prioritized hotel location more. I'll now pay more points or cash to stay close to sights I want to see, neighborhoods I want to visit or restaurants I want to try. Being able to walk instead of needing to take public transit or hail a taxi encourages me to get out and explore more. I've recently stayed in the heart of London (pictured above), Amsterdam and Stockholm and enjoyed seeing each city on foot. But, as you'll discover in the following stories, I'm not the only TPG staffer traveling differently now: - [4 ways the pandemic permanently changed my travel habits]( - [I promised myself I would travel differently post-pandemic — it was a lie]( - [2 big ways Americans’ travel habits changed during the pandemic]( - [Travel lessons we’ve learned since vaccines became widely available]( Katie Genter, Senior Writer Posts in this newsletter contains references to products from one or more of our advertisers.
