Also: $129 flights to Europe [The Points Guy]( WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TODAY Apr 30, 2022 Everyoneâs going to Europe
[Tanner Saunders]( senior hotels reporter, here to take over the newsletter for the next few weeks. At the beginning of April, I spent a week working and exploring in Italy and Spain on my first trip to the European continent since the days before COVID-19. Living in New York, Iâve seen firsthand how tourists are returning to popular destinations, but I was truly shocked by the number of people I saw out and about in Madrid, Barcelona and Rome. The major sites were chock-full of people. Bars and restaurants were crowded and busy, and lines to enter museums were long. To me, everything felt like it was mostly back to normal. However, if youâre planning your own trip to Europe and think youâll have places like the Trevi Fountain all to yourself — think again. Thankfully, COVID-19 entry requirements and mask mandates are dropping left and right, but with that come rising hotel and airfare costs, more frequent delays and disruptions, and less lenient change and cancellation policies. All this to say: If youâre going to Europe, start solidifying your plans now to save you money and a headache down the line.
