Also: Getting the most out of British Airways' distance-based award chart August 22, 2024 [THE POINTS GUY]( [View in browser]( [TPG Daily Newsletter]( SPONSORED BY [Partner Logo]( [THE POINTS GUY]( SPONSORED BY [Partner Logo]( Hotel elite status is within reach by Katie Genter, Senior Writer [TPG | Hero Image] Hotel elite status can provide valuable perks, especially at higher tiers. From breakfast and bonus points to upgrades (such as to an airport view at the Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel, pictured above), lounge access and late checkout, I find it worthwhile to pursue high tiers of hotel elite status with several loyalty programs. The primary reason I use [multiple hotel loyalty programs]( instead of sticking with just one is the value doing so can provide. Whether you're redeeming points or booking a cash rate, some programs will provide better value than others for a given destination and dates. Which program is best for you, though, will depend on your travel habits, likes and needs, as I [discuss in this guide]( to the best hotel elite status tiers. It usually takes many nights with a specific [hotel loyalty program]( to earn elite status. However, there are some shortcuts you can use. For example, you can get [Hilton elite status]( as a benefit of several credit cards. In addition to the [cobranded Hilton credit cards]( that offer various status levels, [The Platinum Card® from American Express]( and [The Business Platinum Card® from American Express]( both come with Hilton Honors Gold status when you enroll. You can also get Marriott elite status with the [Amex Platinum]( and [Amex Business Platinum]( when you enroll, or automatically if you hold one of the [cobranded Marriott cards](. But I find the [elite night credits I can earn through the Marriott credit cards]( more useful than automatic status, as these elite night credits put even higher tiers of status within reach. You can also secure automatic Hyatt Discoverist status as a credit card benefit. But, if you want to earn top-tier [Hyatt Globalist]( status, you won’t find many shortcuts. That being said, you can earn elite night credits through spending on Hyatt credit cards, and some American Airlines elite members can [register for a Hyatt status challenge]( through Oct. 31. You can also obtain [IHG Platinum Elite status]( and a [best-ever offer]( of five free nights (each free night valued at up to 60,000 points) after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening on the [IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card](. [Choice elite status]( and even [Wyndham Diamond status]( are also relatively easy to earn.
