[TPG | Hero Image] Happy Saturday, TPG readers. Itâs hotel company earnings season, and the talk of the town (or at least the talk of hotel nerds like yours truly) is whether[Hilton is on the verge of overtaking Marriott]( in terms of loyalty program size. Hilton Honors has increasingly gained ground against Marriott Bonvoy in terms of member count over the last few quarters. Hilton made major strides in the last 18 months to acquire or launch new brands and partnerships to woo new customers and keep loyalty members happy, like [Graduate Hotels]( [NoMad]( [Small Luxury Hotels of the World]( and [AutoCamp](. But Marriott is preemptively using a marketing tactic Delta Air Lines used back in 2010 when it was dethroned by United Airlines as the largest airline in the world: Bigger doesnât always mean better. Marriott leaders this week touted the [benefits of Bonvoy]( and some of its shock-and-awe experiential offerings. Theyâre the only ones offering a path to redeeming points to see Taylor Swiftâs âThe Eras Tour,â after all! Further, while Hilton made all these brand and partnership announcements, Marriott is the one that has a well-established presence in many of the luxury and lifestyle sectors. Checking in to a [Marriott]( or [Hilton]( hotel sometime soon?
