[THE POINTS GUY]( [View in browser]( [TPG Daily NEWSLETTER]( [THE POINTS GUY]( Earn valuable Avios and cover taxes and fees with this card
by Emily Thompson, Credit Cards Editor
[TPG | Hero Image] If youâve been in the world of award travel bookings for long, chances are good that youâve been thrilled to find a good flight deal on points â only to be hit with hefty taxes and fees. It can be especially frustrating if youâre flying on an airline that adds [fuel surcharges]( like British Airways. But if you have the [British Airways Visa Signature® Card]( you can get up to $600 in credits annually toward these taxes and fees when you book through the airline and use your card. Thatâs far from the only reason to get the card, though. It earns valuable [Avios]( which you can use to book flights (and pay for your taxes and fees) on British Airways or transfer them to Iberia Plus, Aer Lingus and other [Oneworld airlines](. Weâve even made domestic flight award bookings on American Airlines using Avios. The standard welcome offer for this card is [75,000 bonus Avios]( after you spend $5,000 in the first three months of account opening. TPG values Avios at 1.5 cents each, making this bonus worth an impressive $1,125. But for a limited time, new cardholders can also earn 5 points per dollar spent on gas, grocery and dining in combined purchases (either up to $10,000 or for the first 12 months from account opening, whichever comes first). If you can fully maximize this bonus opportunity, youâll earn an extra 50,000 Avios â bringing your total bonus value to $1,875. If you regularly use Avios, this is a great deal to take advantage of. However, itâs worth noting that this card doesnât come with the perks we typically expect on a cobranded airline card, like free checked bags and priority boarding. If those are important to you, consider [these airline cards instead](. Check out these additional stories to see if this card might be a good fit for you: - [British Airways Visa review](
