Here’s what we got on deck for you today: 💣 FedEx Stock Plummets 15% After Disappointing Earnings 🔻 💣 US Stocks Fall as FedEx Earnings Dampen Rate-Cut Optimism 😬 💣 Video: Why The Money Press Works 💯 Markets At A Glance🔎 As of September 23, 2024, 10:00 AM MST Treasure Hunting Climate 📈 The Federal Reserve surprised most people with a 50 basis point cut on Wednesday. This news initially had mixed reactions on Wednesday, but then Thursday the markets surged. Interest rate cuts are historically good for economic growth (driving consumer spending) and bullish for the stock market. The S&P 500 and the Dow pushed to new all-time highs following the Fed, but the Nasdaq still has a ways to go to get to the highs set in July. These last two weeks have shown tremendous buying and the indices have covered a lot of ground. Most technical indicators are showing we are in a short-term "overbought" situation, but news and policy shifts like we saw last week can really spark the markets to go to extreme levels. Even though the short-term is looking a bit extended, with the S&P 500 clearing the previous highs it is now back to a technical "uptrend". We mentioned last week that the markets continued to flash bullish signals and this is just another example of that. If the market does give us a little pullback from the recent buying, it could give us a really nice entry point for new bullish positions. Happy trading!
