Chart your course for the coming week with this edition of the FogCutter! Here’s what we got on deck for you today: 💣 Treasure Hunting Climate Insights From "Right-hand" Mike 🔎 💣 Investment Strategists Boost Their S&P 500 Target 🚀 💣 The Beast in the Forest - NVDA 🙀 Markets At A Glance🔎 As of May 20, 2024, 1 PM MST Treasure Hunting Climate 📈 The bulls had another great week in the market! We saw all the major indices continue their bullish trends and push through to new all-time highs. The Dow Jones closed for the first time above the 40,000 mark which emphasized the strength we've seen in May. For some perspective, May 1 the S&P 500 closed at 5,018. Today (Monday, May 20th) it opened at 5,305... almost a 6% gain for May alone. Hopefully none of you followed the old adage of "sell in May and go away" and you've participated in this bullish push over the last two and a half weeks. After a strong run higher like this, we are watching for signs of momentum slowing and any reversal indicators to make slight defensive adjustments to our portfolio... but until those happen we just keep riding the bullish wave! See you next week!! View From The Crow's Nest 👀 Investment Strategists Boost Their S&P 500 Target 🚀 Morgan Stanley's Chief Investment Officer, who previously had one of the lowest S&P 500 year-end targets, has now revised his forecast. He predicts the S&P 500 will reach 5,400 in the next 12 months, up from his earlier estimate of 4,500. This suggests a 2% increase, driven by rising earnings despite falling valuations.
