In an OUTRAGEOUS decision, two far-right judges on the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals just GUTTED the Voting Rights Act. In a 2-1 decision, the court erroneously held that only the federal government — not private citizens or groups — is allowed to sue over unfair, gerrymandered legislative maps. Make no mistake — if this highly flawed decision is upheld, it will gut the Voting Rights Act and give far-right politicians across the country license to further entrench their own power. This decision is outrageous — but not very surprising. For years, far-right unelected judges have attacked the Voting Rights Act, which has protected voters of color since the 60s.
