In response to last night's question, "What was the first job you ever had?" :
Michele Cottone from Morristown, NJ
I worked in a florist. I got the job two weeks after my 16th birthday. Just less than two weeks on the job and I had to work Valentine’s Day, the 2nd most busiest holiday in the florist business (back in the ‘80s). It was crazy with people coming in non-stop to buy flowers for the love in their lives. At the end of day, there were a few ragged roses left that still managed to get sold to the the desperate procrastinators! I learned right there and then, you can sell anything if the demand is there!
Timothy Felde from Orange, CA
My first job was a Range Boy at a driving range, picking up the golf balls with a tractor that pushed a large ball picker attachment. Golfers would aim at me, and while I did have a cage, there were gaps. I took a few on my inner thighs, a little too close for comfort. Eventually I was promoted to work in the Pro Shop and did that through college.
