These days, most Windows users don't need to open applications with Administrator privileges. The built-in Windows User Account Control (UAC) feature does a good job of letting us use our PCs without needing that "Run as Administrator" option. But, if you do find yourself needing to run an application as administrator, this convenient keyboard shortcut is incredibly useful. ð» This works on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. â This week's tip comes from Windows Intelligence reader Simeon B., who notes how useful pressing Ctrl+Shift+Enter is for running an application as Administrator. For example: - Launch an app as Administrator from Start menu search: Press the Windows key, search for the application you want, and then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to launch it as Administrator.
- Launch an app as Administrator from the Run dialog: Launch the Run dialog by pressing Windows+R. Type the name of the application you want to launch (for example, "notepad" or "cmd") and then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to launch it as Administrator. A similar trick also works on the taskbar! Press and hold Ctrl+Shift and then click one of the shortcuts on your taskbar. Windows will launch that application as Administrator. [Using the Run dialog to launch a Command Prompt with the "cmd" command.] That's it! Of course, the average Windows user won't need to do this all that often â but if you find yourself needing to do this, this keyboard shortcut is extremely convenient. ð¸ This week's Android Intelligence reader tip is all about [a useful button in Google Photos â one that unlocks a whole world of options](=). ð¡ Got a useful tip you'd like to share with other Windows enthusiasts?
