[Windows Intelligence](#) The Windows desktop may be on the cusp of a total AI transformation. (That's what the leaks say, anyway.) But for now, we're still in charge of moving our own desktop windows around â and fixing any problems we might encounter on our PCs. (I don't expect that promised AI transformation to immediately change everything. After all, Microsoft still hasn't managed to move everything from the classic Control Panel to the new Settings app after more than a decade of trying!) This week's reader-submitted tip is a particularly useful one Windows geeks have been using for decades. When a window gets lost, this is a must-know tip for rescuing it. â This entire email will take you two minutes to read. Getting a lost window back can be quite a puzzle. After all, you can't grab it with your mouse cursor. But there's a way to move a window with just your keyboard â even if it's vanished off your screen and you can't see it. ð» This works on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. â Windows Intelligence reader Dan H. wrote in with a useful tip for moving windows with your keyboard. First, select the window you want to move â for example, by using Alt+Tab to switch to it. Then, press Alt+Space on your keyboard. You'll see a menu with a variety of options â select "Move" by clicking it, or by using the arrow keys and pressing Enter. (You may also be able to hold down the Shift key and right-click the application's icon on your taskbar to find this menu.) [Select the "Move" option in the menu.] Now, just tap or press and hold the arrow keys to move the window around with your keyboard. Press Enter when you're done. [Moving a window with the arrow keys.] Note: If you don't see this menu after pressing Alt+Space and you see a box in the middle of your screen, that's because you've installed Microsoft PowerToys. The default shortcut for the "PowerToys Run" launcher is Alt+Space. To get around this, you'll need to launch the "PowerToys" application from your Start menu or system tray and either disable PowerToys Run or change its activation shortcut to something else. ð Looking for this week's Android Intelligence reader tip?
