But that touchpad (sometimes called a trackpad) has some hidden multi-finger taps, too. On most modern PCs, some three and four-finger tap actions can speed up how you do things with your touchpad â and you can customize them, too. ð» This works on both Windows 10 and Windows 11, although it may not work on some older laptops, which don't support "Precision Touchpad" technology â Windows Intelligence reader Jim H. pointed out you can use quick multi-finger taps on your touchpad, too. Here's what you can do out of the box: - Tap with three fingers to activate the Search popup.
- Tap with four fingers to see notifications. But you can do more â you could make either of these multi-finger tap actions Play/Pause audio, if you like, or act as a middle mouse button click. (A two finger tap, of course, functions as a right-click.) To change how this works on Windows 11, open the Start menu and head to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad. Expand the "Three-finger gestures" or "Four-finger gestures" section and choose your preferred action from the "Taps" dropdown box. ð On Windows 10, you'll find these options at Settings > Devices > Touchpad instead. Look under "Three-finger gestures" or "Four-finger gestures."
